Gillz - you're better off going there, getting your feet assessed and then buying the trainers somewhere else ;)

(From about £60 if you must though - but you can buy last year's trainers online for about £20-£30 usually - so now Ascis Cumulus 10 are out the 8's and 9's are much cheaper :D)

I don't know about the treadmill???? But i went to a specialist running shop called The Running Bear in cheshire, and they just got me to run up and down the street, they were brilliant!!! This lady knew all about my arches, support etc just from having a quick (and ticklish) feel of my feet and watchin me run, and found me the perfect shoes for about £75!!! :T And i love them! The cheapest on offer were around £40 and the dearest went right up to £200 So don't expect them to be cheap, but they come with a milage garuntee, think mine have a 500 mile garuntee, so you should get some decent wear out of them.

Cheers becky, i'm just gonna take it easy, but i'm determined to stick to my plan, and actually get up to running! :j Might strap my knee up though, it's been twinging a little ever since the lurgy got me

You dont have to do the treddie thing - but basically they film you running in bare feet and then slow it down and check what style you have and then recommend some shoes based on it - you still often have to try a few on (I did 6 pairs last time) and run outside the shop because each shoes is different anyway - but once you've had it done you can buy shoes online for a LOT less, here's some for example:

  • ooooohhhh i didn't know the treadmill thing lol

i just ran up and down alderley edge high street in 6 different pairs too, must have looked like such a spoon lol

My trainers were from the addidas factory shop about 4yrs ago, they are samples.

Never had any issues with them, so maybe im just lucky that i got the right type for me, the tread is nearly worn away, so soon need some new ones.

Might see what is at the end of the 10k, there is ment to be a running shop there, so might ask them for advice and see if they are open later that day.

Im still worried about what to wear, if its windy im ok, if its hot then ill struggle again in my tracksuit bottoms & t-shirt, if i wear shorts my legs get cold and they start to hurt

Hi there, runners! Sorry I haven't been posting recently, life has just got in the way. Unfortunately, I've fallen out with running. I haven't had a good run for so long, I can't remember why I do it any more. I don't know what the problem is really, whether I'm not fully over the virus I had a couple of weeks ago or what? After I had been off work poorly, I went out for my long weekend run but after 14 miles I was so exhausted OH ran home and I walked to my mum's and he picked me up in the car. Because of work and family committments I didn't run until Thursday last week, when I did a comfortable 9+ miles with the ladies group. Then on Saturday I went out for another long run and had to phone up at 11.5 miles for a lift home. I could hardly put one foot in front of the other and just felt so exhausted! I went home, had a bath and fell asleep and wasn't fully awake all evening.

I don't know what to do! Help, Rich, I really need some advice!

The trouble is, there are so many other demands on me at the moment, I think it is all down to stress and I should probably see my GP. Work (year-end rapidly approaching, and a very demanding chief exec!), family (mum had a fall recently but Ok now; son plays footy and needs ferrying around all over the place), trying to organise a wedding in June  with OH working away all week. Running is just becoming a chore, along with all the other tasks I need to tick off my list. HELP!

By the way - Becky - hope the shin is holding up OK. You must have been so upset with the diagnosis. I hope it doesn't give you too much of a problem.

Rich - superb running as usual. You must be well on target for Blackpool.

Hypno - I am with you girl! I feel exactly the same. Where can you buy extra hours for the day? Keep up the training you are doing so well!

Everyone else - ignore me, I'm just having an off day! :o Keep up the good work you are all doing, it sounds like great progress being made!

(sorry for such a long post - making up for time away ;) )

Oh I had one of those last week Chick - on Monday I totally fell out with running too - then a few forceed days off and it was back to usual :p:rolleyes:

No idea what to do except maybe take the pressure off yourself - dont make running a chore by setting yourself too many targets - think oh I might run today instead of I must run today?? Not a very practical suggestion though, but sometimes is about the mindset more than anything else :o

Hope you feel less exhausted soon - I'm a big believer in getting enough sleep and spending one evening a week doing absolutely nothing :D:D
