Hi Rusty - I cant think of anything worse than an 8 mile interval session ;)

Sometimes when the distance is out its worth doing a shorter slower run because that gives your body more time to recover rather than a tiring interval session...but good running nonetheless :D

Did I tell you I did an 18 mile run on Friday...and it was full of Hills (route planned by another running buddy) so could easily have done another 2-3 miles if it was flat. 26 miles def feels possible now :) and I have my number too Becky, did you see that bit in the magazine that friends and family can text your race number to a certain number and it will tell you where on the course you are...how cool!

Well done Sally - did you run with the buddy or on your own?? What sort of pace indications did it give re the 26 miles?? I've been working on breaking it down into chunks of pace on an online course map today - exciting!

I havent read the magazine yet - I'm going to get my friends to use the online live service I think, but you should let us know your number so we can get someone who isnt running to post updates on the day for the rest of the thread :D

I got my magazine but no idea what my number is - am I missing something really obvious?

Well done on the 18 miles Sallyx - that sounds incredibly promising!

    Edit - just found it - I am 40912

Its on th letter that came with it - in the box - you then go into the magazine to work out which start you are on...Red is mine (of course the mass start) :D

ooo off to see where I am starting from...missed that bit, thanks Becky.

As for pace we were going a bit fast for me (the other 2 are like whippets) and were running 11 min mile pace over the 18 miles. I think probably on the flat that would be doable but then I would rather go a little bit slower to ensure I ran the whole 26.

sally, my 18 miles last week was at 11.03 min pace overall too - I think you are probably a whole lot further ahead than you give yourself credit for.

11 min miles for the 26 would bring us in at 4:48 - that would do nicely, wouldn't it?!

I'm on the red start, BTW.....

I dont feel nervous (yet) - I'm going out to check out the start on 11th and see if they still pen the reds in beyond the park gates - if they do I'll need to be near the front or I will get hemmed in for 40 minutes waiting to cross the start line ;)

The other good thing is that the finish after the Isle of Dogs bit past tower bridge the second time is all my regular running route - so when I come down there I'll know exactly how much further to go - but for peeps not local I would suggest walking some of that bit on the Saturday - it perfectly flat at least :D
