We're having similar, but with pork chops rather than sausages
Shame about the doughnuts though, I could quite fancy one of those!!

Just back from Morecambe - really enjoyed that.:D
The race is run almost entirely on a tarmac cycle track, out from Morecambe, into Lancaster and up the Vale of Lune and back. So scenic and very sunny (must have some sort of a tan from 2 and a half hours in that!:D ).
The race itself was fine - first 10 Miles 1:10:42, second 10 Miles 1:11:09, so pretty much even pace.
The goodies - a t-shirt and a Mars bar!
It was interesting that it was billed as a 'pre-London 20' and yet everyone I spoke to was either doing Blackpool or Windermere, which kind of backs up what we were saying on Friday about the way that London has pretty much made club runners unwelcome.
Right, must catch up on what has been a very busy thread, but must say Hypno - Woweee! You really have dragged this training schedule kicking and screaming back on track since the blisters haven't you? You probably wont be able to walk for a couple of days, but wow you must feel good at the achievement.:D
Becky - What a little battler you have become. Thats sounds like a real test of, well everything really...stamina, hill strength, lung capacity etc etc. And you loved it, so brilliant! ( Have you noticed how the dogs stay away when hills are involved:p ). Looking at the severity of it your time must be worth sub 50, so cant wait for you to do a flat 10K.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks Rich
Although I wont be doing any 10ks till post London now, the next 6 weekends look like:
Ashby 20 - aiming for 3 hours ish but its tough race so we'll see
5k Leeds/20 mile training run in Leeds
Blackpool Half aiming for that 1:45 this time!!
5k Wimbledon/ 20 mile training run
5k Wimbledon/13 mile training run
Marathon!!!!! (fly to NY on Monday afternoon)
Ouch - but I'm taking it one week at a time0 -
Hi everyone, I wimped out of today's race
(hangs head in shame). I wasn't feeling brilliant right up to yesterday but thought I could kick this stupid bug on Saturday, so I sort of made my mind up to race. However, last night at about 8pm my sister called to say that my mum, who is 78 had fallen on her way to the local club. I didn't know how she was, so because the race would have virtually taken up all day today, that sort of made up my un-made-up mind for me.
Still, me and OH went out for a run and he did 16 miles and I did 14.5 as I stopped at mum's on the way home to see how she is. (Quite shaken and with two black eyes but other wise OK.) I have spent most of the afternoon there and she is so cross at having tripped!
Rich - a fantastic race. Well done. Sorry I didn't come but after 14 miles I was done for today, so it probably wasn't a good idea. It looks like you will be well within your 3:15 target for Blackpool.
Becky - well done on your burst of speed for today's 10k. It makes such a change from long slow runs doesn't it?
Hypno - Go you - ramping up the mileage like a good 'un! Make sure you throw those old trainers in the bin!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Awwww Chick thats so scary when that happens - my granny fell a while back and it was emergency surgery time etc etc so I understand how worrying it can be
You still got out though and put some miles away - so really well done considering you havent been well either!!!
Yeah speed really isnt my thing still - but I'll get there this summer I hope0 -
What race did you do today Becky?
Sausage mash carrots and cabbage sounds mighty fine...
Rich - I went to school in Lancaster and started my love of running there.....Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

And I only do ironing if you bring it to me along with a massive box of Jaffa cakes....:rotfl:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Well done rich! And yes, I do feel more or less back on track, but would have liked to have been at this distance a few weeks ago.
As it is, I have three weekends left before I go skiing, then I come home the week before FLM, so no chance to run then.....
So, I was thinking about doing a fairly easyish weekend next week - 10 miles or thereabouts, then 18 or 20 the week after, then see how I feel for my last "running" week......
As for during the weeks, with the higher milage at the weekend, I think I will just do whatever my legs feel like.....go with the flow....or not, as the case may be!
Does that sound reasonable, or should I do more runs of shorter distances, and say that my long run today was as far as i need to go???Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. blimey, it took me so long to type that post, that loads of people have got in there that I look like I have ignored
Chick, I am so sorry that you didn't get to do your race, and hope that your Mum recovers soon. It was probably best that you didn't run if you still weren't feeling great, anyway, and the 14 miles you DID do is still a phenomenally useful distance. OH must be pleased with his distance too?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Sounds like you made the right decision, Chick. Although its always painful letting an entry fee go unused, isn't it? But definitely not wimping!!
Still, good miles for both of you - he must be feeling a bit more confident after that I guess?
You've still got a fair amount of time left - is there another 20 miler you can get in to?
Sammy - same as me, most of my early running was around Lancaster. Fantastic scenery and such a range of offerings - flat, undulating, hilly take your pick, its all available round there. The canal runs down to Heysham are great as well.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
