He can't hypno - he used to be able to (and he did get competitive) but since he's been working away he's not been running and last time he came out for a run with me he gave up and walked home....:rotfl:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Perfect then! Halfway between your 10 min mile pace, and his walking pace will be 12.5 min miles.....just what the coach ordered!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Well done on the 18.5 miles Hypno - but eeweeee to the missing toenail.
It's reassuring to know that others are struggling with the slow runs too; I read Rich's advice to Sammy about running 12 min miles on the long runs and tried desperately hard today to go slowly.
It was the first time since I started running outside in February that I felt really relaxed and was trying to stay as effortless as possible and just enjoy the scenery and sunshine. When I got back my OH remarked 'Oh, you're not sweating much, you obviously didn't run hard enough'!!!
I checked my time and sure enough; 6.27 miles in 01:04:57, pace 10.20.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
I just need a personal trainer......that would do the trick, I am sure!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Helllllllooooo Campers
Owwww the heat, the hills - what a tough race - not one inch of flat ground - totally evil
But despite it all and some seriously stupid running from me (off too fast, very slow patch in the middle, 4kms of sprinting) I still got home in 53:04 (I think)...bearing in mind its not chip timed so thats okay but just goes to show two important points:
1. when you train too hard on long runs you pay for it later - last weeks 20 miler was still in the legs and with the hills and the heat I just ran out of pace at 5-6km mark - the time per mile here was slower than my 10 miler time per mile (oooppsss)
2. I am rubbish at short distance races - I need to practice race pacing more
EXCELLENT NEWS - Rich ran his 20 miler in 2:21:51 - wow!!!!!0 -
Well done on the amazing long run today Hypno - very proud of you and the efforts you've put in
Some good running there Simply - I know it can be tough to run slowly - I use my marker of - if I can sing (silently of course) along to my music while running then I'm going slowly enough, if it leaves me out of breath then I'm going too fast - yes it can be boring at times but its worth it later0 -
Oooh, a personal trainer that would be good - and a nutritionist. Actually somebody to do the ironing would be nice too!!! Where did you say you were based Sammy????? :rotfl: :rotfl:2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Evab - looking forward to having you back soon!

Anyone mind me joining in??
Have taken up running (read: slow jogging!) in the past 2 months for a fitness test with the Police, having done absolutely zero running before but I'm developing a liking for it!
At the mo I only do 1.7miles (according to mapmyrun) in about 18mins but I'm entered into a 5mile 'fun run' for Childrens Cancer which is happening in May, so I'm gonna increase the distance after every 3-4 runs upto that 5.
All these years I've said I would never run/jog because I couldn't see the point in it - always preferred team games for exercise but I'm loving that my fitness is obviously increasing and that my weight is going down! Confidence is taking a boost too
yay for running!"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0 -
Ooh, you crept in while I was typing Becky; 53 mins well done :T That course sounded tough - no flat bits
That's a great time from Rich too!! You two are such an inspiration for us newbies!!!
Talking of which - hello and welcome superstylin; glad you could join us. :T2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910
