  • Hi all, went on the treadmill yesterday, ran a mile in 12:51, at that rate it will take me over 3 hours to do the half marathon!
Did want to go out tonight, but it's very icy here (slipped twice on my way to work and I'm only 5 mins away!)
Might head to the gym later but got the in-laws round for dinner tonight, so it depends when they leave.

Good match Idio (drat I miss my footy now - not that I ever scored 8 goals but I saved 8!) :D

We could make the perfect pairing, then - I'm slowly getting better outfield, but I am - and will remain - the worst goalkeeper *ever*...if someone's gonna kick something hard at me really fast, I *am* gonna jump out of the way of it - just the way I'm built :)

As I was saying last night, you need to alternate between putting your butt cheek in a bowl of ice water and a bowl of hot water. This will heal things up much quicker.

Rich - Er no but i did eventually get around to working out what i spent last year which is what has made me a little short of cash. Still thats getting sorted slowly. Five races between now and end of May. Not bad for me wa meant to be 15-20 last year in the same period

Ah well I'm okay outfield in denfense (in fact I've been known to shove 6ft guys out of the way :o), but I cant shoot at al - I think I scored three times in 6 months of playing twice a week :D

Yes I often used to end up with football shaped 'prints' on my knees and thighs - its even worse in the cold weather - ouch stinging.

The only problem I had was gloves - I broke my finger in practise once and tried to get proper goalie gloves but my hands are too small so I had to buy boys ones (size 4 I think) so I was always worried about punching the ball and re-breaking the finger - hence why I'm not playing right now (coachie would not be happy if that happened ).

Excuse the detour - back to running all :D

Idio - Boring? Not at all. I cant think of any more pleasurable activity than spending 1hr 30 mins flowing around a nice traffic-free countrified 10 miler (or then again, maybe I can!:o ).

And, in any case, my sessions have actually got shorter, in the first 8 weeks during the core fitness training I was pretty much doing daily 2 hour walks.

Do you manage to do all your running in the country, then?

As I said, I find that kinda running much easier - it's the ones where I'm running through housing estates and on long straight roads for miles where I start to get a bit more fidgety - and I think clock-watching just makes things worse...hmm..

With time your speed improves and unless you up distance to compensate (you will a bit unles you are already speedy) then actual running time drops. Alway good to know that little fact ;)

Cool sig looks ok too perfect formating first time round

    ..

Yeah, pretty much - My main circuit is only 3 miles from the centre of Leeds but there's a bigger risk from horses than cars!
