Chickadee - Have you any details on the course for the Trimpell 20 in Morecambe?

Its the same day as my planned Spen 20, but I'm thinking that if the Trimpell takes in Morecambe sea front and is relatively flat it is going to be a better preparation for the Blackpool Marathon perhaps.

No route details Rich, but the leaflet says:

"99% traffic free; Fastest UK 20 mile 2006" "Fast Flat course" Starts at Trimpell Sports & Social Club LA4 4UP

More entry details are on ukresults.net £20 unattached and you can enter online.

That's all I know. I have run it before, but I can't remember the route. In fact I never remember race routes. I just follow everyone else and turn when I'm told to :o .

  • Well it sounds slightly more inviting than a combined 6,000ft of ascents!:p

I may well be doing that one instead, being an ex resident of Morecambe!

    Thanks for that, Chickadee!:D

It is a tough course, but remember thats 'only' 300ft per mile, so tough but pretty typical around here - in fact the course virtually touches the Pennine 10K course, which you know only too well!

  • Hi everyone, I would just like to say thanks for keeping me on track.

I had a manic day at work and my last meeting went on and on and on which meant I was late leaving; I convinced myself on the way home that i) it was too late to run ii) I was too tired to run iii) I needed my dinner. Then I thought about coming on here and admitting my laziness. ;)

So.... I am pleased to report another 30 minute session on the treadmill starting for 10 minutes on a speed of 6.5 then gradually upping to 7, which I stayed on for 15 minutes, before dropping back to 6.5 and I managed 3.49 miles. :j

Now I'm off to read the old thread for some more inspiration and to read about how you all got to be running these great distances. Can you tell I'm nosey???

Well, we all started out by doing exactly what you are doing! Taking it nice and steady but keeping at it. (The keeping at it bit is the most important ;) )

And yes we can tell you're nosey. You'll fit in perfectly :D . Great session on the treadmill by the way, especially considering it was late, you were tired and you needed your dinner :p .

  • Good evening all
Well i managed to get out, and i managed the whole 10km, the legs were surprising springy and in good shape after the overload circuit at dinner time.
I tried to push for the first 2km and i managed it in just over 10mins so i was well chuffed even better was my times
    1st lap of 5km 27.44mins 2nd lap of 5km 28.50 Total 10km 56.34mins

That bets my 5km time by over a minute and my 10km by almost 10mins so well happy. About time all the core training helped in the running.

Hmm not as bad a i thought dragging backside out of bed a little after 6. Will pay later on mind but at least it'll encourage me to go to bed when i get home from work. Out a little before 7 and 3.5 miles no pain from foot no looking at watch until i stopped (too dark anyway) very steady pace of 9:40 pace basically. A tad slippy in places, mostly the cycletrack.

    Morning All!

Did a nice easy 6 this morning as planned and have a nice easy 4 (that I may make a 6 depending on how late it is when I leave this evening) - aiming for a 50 mile week this week :D

Well done on the run JJ - great to knock so much off you times considering you were tired!

Well done on getting out Simply - Chick is right as usual - consistency is the key when you first start - just keep it slow and steady :D

KM - great to hear the foot's not hurting steady pace definitely keeps those injuries at bay!
  • JJ - Wow, what an improvement in one fell swoop! 64 minutes down to 56 minutes is impressive. What a boost to your enthusiasm that must have been!:D

Kms - Nice to see you're doing some running outside races!:D

Becky - I think you're starting to enjoy these 'nice and easy' runs. You're sounding much more on track again this morning. Just think what an achievement 50 miles in a week will be. Most runners never achieve that.

Simply - Hope you enjoyed your reading!:D
