Becky - I think you're starting to enjoy these 'nice and easy' runs. You're sounding much more on track again this morning. Just think what an achievement 50 miles in a week will be. Most runners never achieve that.

Well according to my new plan there is one week at 59 - dont you just know I'm going to try to push that over 60 :p, still some way off Paula's 80-100 though :eek:, not sure much more than 60 is possible working 9-5 though...

Mind you how many are you doing at the moment?? You're probably combining all of our weekly totals with yours arent you??

Rich Lol I think i've prooved by being in this forum until clearing debts dwonwards somewhat raing is unaffordable. Have just looked at races in the build up to Edinburgh marathon (also planned training schedule too) and as well as my 10 miler in 4 weeks time i have Cyprus marathon in mid march which is just a long training run really. I can slot in a local 10k mid april and a local half 3 week after that one. All fits nicely into trainig with high and low volume weeks and even a taper period.

  • Rich, i was very happy once i had gotten over the sick feeling after sprinting the last 100m, all i wanted to do was catch my breath and stop my self from throwing up. It too almost 5mins for the sick feeling to go away before i could do some stretchs. Feeling a little bit heavy this morning so ill be having a rest day(the oh is out tonight so iv got the kids).
Im hoping to get below 55mins for the 10km next time but i wont be disappointed if i dont as i know that it will come in its own time.

Well, last night was a steady 5K on my running plan, so I decided to run with the NikeTown runners (in London). The group doing the (just over) 3 mile course were pretty slow though. Still, it's good to run with people even if you don't see them after the first few minutes, you soon catch up with the slow 4 mile runners. Next Tuesday I've got a 5K time trial, so I'll set off and keep up with the fast 4 milers, even if I jog the last Km or so.

Becky, have you heard of the Nike Town runners? May be useful for you? Free to join, plus you get a free running shirt after 3 runs (got a free one last night as well). So very MSE! You can join the 3, 4 or 7 mile groups. Tuesday nights is mixed, Monday nights women only. And don't worry about the other runners, they may look the part (i.e. got all the gear), but you'll be comfortably at (or near) the head of any of the groups.

    Morning All,

Did my first run since about the end of November. Didnt run because of injury to my foot.

    Did a 2 mile (2.1miles) with a friend - 15:17.

Felt really good to get back out running. Will do a longer one on Sunday morning.

    Have a good day all.

Seems interesting but Tuesdays I'm doing intervals in the morning so I'd propbably be wiped (I'm doing a very slow run in the evenings at the moment)...thanks for the heads up though - I might go later in the year after London when training for Venice :D

I hate Nike town though becuase they laugh at me when I go into to buy football gear (its not my fault you dont stock womens footy gear and I have to buy mens is it!) :o

Well done on the run Hobsch - how did it feel on the injury?? Does it feel fully healed or are you still testing it slowly?

Oh I wonder if Chris made his run last night...

No probs. You can do the runs at slow pace if you want though. I think some people do them really slowly i.e. jogging pace. Just thought you might like to know RE: the free stuff!

I never buy anything in Nike Town, as it's pretty pricey stuff. My wife got me some football shin pads and running tops from there for Christmas though. While the runs are free, I think they make their money by getting the runners in the door so they impulse buy. I don't, but judging by some of the get-ups a lot of people do! They have Nike fitness experts running with you and I suspect many of them recommend new gear to the runners. Generally speaking, I've found the more fancy gear a runner is wearing, the newer and less experienced they are. It's a generalisation, but it usually holds true!

Indeed - Me and Rich have a theory 'there's an inverse proportion to the amount of someone spends on their kit and the amount of running they actually do' :p

Luckily I have loads of footy gear I still wear - so far since June I've spent £50 on trainers, £15 on insoles and £20 on a winter running top :D:D:D

I think running is cheap, but I can see how it gets expensive

Holy Carp I have just run 6 miles on an ice rink...never never again!

Black ice all over the pavements, roads and along the way 4 people stopped to tell me to be careful...! Every step was a slip and at one point near home I tried to run up around a step bend only to slip back down...tried walking it which was worse so had to resort to hands and knees....what a sight!

Anyway managed to get 100m from home where I slipped up and now have a nice sore bum

6 miles 60.40 ;) considering the conditions pleased with that
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
    Finally Debt Free...
