JJ - Wet and muddy, you're definitely a 'real' runner now!:D :D Was it sucky mud that pulls your running shoes off? It's hard to move forward at all on some muddy sections so you'll have had a good workout there. Did you say it was part of a league? More races to come?

Chickadee - You should be fine by Sunday if its like the bug doing the rounds, and you've certainly got some good distance work under your belt to see you through the race. Jonathan is doing well to run 14 miles so soon after the injury and he's also done a tough half in 1-42 so, although frustrated, he's kept a pretty decent level of fitness through it all.

Becky - It seems like your legs are straining at the leash at the moment.:D Very nice midweek run, you're really getting the benefit, from your consistent training, of being able to do long runs at an enjoyable pace.

Hypno - A relative midweek rest compared to your normal mileage may well set you up nicely for your long run at the weekend.

Ooo, it's been quite a busy old evening by the looks.......

After tomorrow morning's run, it's a full 3 days without running - I'm going to be climbing the walls!:p :p

I was pre Brighton and I had loads of my mind so heaven help you...

Ooo I had a thought earlier while out running - at what stage should we (us FLMers) start carb loading for marathon day and when should we stop??

When you really drop the mileage to virtually nothing a week before you should resist the temptation to eat too much.

Thursday and Friday are the key days really to get carbed up - but it shouldn't be overdone. You can't help but feel bloated on the start line, so best not to feel too blobby!:p

Not a problem actually - at the moment I'm struggling to keep the weight on again - I've got down below a size 8 for the first time ever - I reckon I dropped 2-3lbs last week - I'm trying to stuff my face, but I'm getting bored of eating all the time - I'm even bored of sweets and custard - eeekkk

But thats cool I know runners are ultra skinny so give me a few more months and I might look like Paula (sans broken toe of course) :D

At the weekend I was having a chat with my fellow lady runners and someone brought up the subject of sports massages. One of them has been having physio for an injury and during one of her treatment sessions she was chatting with the physio and when she mentioned the marathon training group and the sort of mileage we are doing, the physio was aghast that we don't have sports massages. Does anyone have any experience of sports massage? When is it best to have a massage? Straight after a very long run, my muscles feel too 'damaged' to have a massage, but would it be beneficial at any other time? OH is having physio too and his said that runners shouldn't wait until they are injured to see a physio, we should apparently be getting regular maintenance!

    Any thoughts anyone?
