Thanks Simply!!
I honestly didn't know whether it was fast or not during the first interval because the legs didn't feel to be working - so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the time, to say the least!:D
And don't worry, I don't think there's any rationing of posts just yet!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi everyone :j
I haven't been here in a while so I've no idea what's going on, but I will say well done to everyone who's managing to put one foot in front of the other at whatever speed they do currently:D
I think I must be a in a post-marathon funk as I've found it difficult to motivate myself to get back to running properly. However, I've been doing more cycling and even bought a new bike last weekend, as I discovered the previous bike was a tad huge at a 17" frame when, as I'm a titch, I should be on a 15" frame bike. Previous bike is now up for sale and I hope it shifts before the month goes too far as I'm almost into overdraft mode already . I might end up having more than my current target of 6 No Spend Days for the month at this rate .
Anyway, back to running. Having cycled home this evening and it being a club night, I decided to forego the club session and save the money. Instead I did two laps of Clapham Common. The first lap took me 18:09 and I felt very sluggish but the second was completed in 17:02 so I felt good. It helped that I'd changed into running gear within 5 minutes of getting home otherwise I wouldn't have gone anywhere and would have plonked myself on the sofa
Just about to sign up for a 10k taking place next weekend so that will push me to get out there a bit more.
See you all next time :TThe 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
Hello Poor!!!
I've been wondering where you are...found any warm marathons to do yet??
Good luck for the 10k next weekend0 -

The best interval session by a long way with an average of 5:41 (previous best 5:54) and the fastest mile so far at 5:40 (previous best 5:49). So, in fact, all 3 miles were faster than the previous fastest, and its the first time that that has been achieved.:D
Simply - Nicely done on the fartlek. It sounds like you really enjoyed it, which is how it should be - nice and relaxed. You maybe pushed too hard on your fast parts by describing it as sprinting, if you can think of it more as strong striding out, whereby you elevate the pace but not to flat out, the faster bits will naturally stretch out. But good session.
I've just read this again and it made me laugh - my sprinting is probably slower than you running with your trainer laces tied together Rich!! :rotfl:
Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather today!2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Felt very strong this morning and really enjoyed the fresh, Spring weather. Ooooo this is fun!:D
Simply - I spent a good few weeks where none of my paces were under 10 mins/mile, so you can look forward to lots of improvements just by steady, regular training.
Poor - Its nice to see the marathon star return from hibernation. Is the bug starting to get you again? I bet it is!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

morning all,
well rich looks like youve kicked the virus right into touch and a little bit further with those times. Well Done.
Im hoping to do my first 10k race this afternoon if i can get the times off the people that are organsing the event. Its a cross country 10k so im not sure of what time to expect really but if it under the 60min mark i will be happy, i will be towards the back fo the pack if i do race as looking at the last set of results the fastest male came in under 35min:eek: , ill only just be passed half way:rotfl: .

Good luck with that JJ!
Is this a pretty informal event? Wednesday afternoon is traditional sports afternoon but not too common for races.
Despite the different terrains I take it the course must be pretty good with the times of the leaders last time?
You're fit enough for a challenge like this now, though, so should thoroughly enjoy it.
Looking forward to the result later.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Its a formal race, its part of the Lincolnshire Services Cross Country League,
Each service - fire, police, medics, military participate, so iv only just found out about the league and that my work have a team entered into it. So i put my name down to join the team and they said yes more than welcome to join them. Theres no prizes for these races but they are free so i cannot complain and it will help me with my speed racing aginst other people.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -
