Actually that's not a bad idea.......... I'll aim for a quarter of that (reaching for the calculator) by the end of the year. Does that include training and/or 'just' running?

Just worked it out. 625 seems a little puny but I'll see how I progress. Ok Becky, terms and conditions?

    Hey Poor,

It includes all running (training and races), but if you want to pop cycling into yours as well you are going to whoop me in total mileage...obviously you may already have a 'running' (hahaha) total in which case post it up and I'll note them down and let me know once a month where you're at and I'll update them every month :D

Keep the cycling seperate though and we can compare both for you then!

    :j :j

This surely guarantees that I'll challenge myself :D

I'll keep the cycling out of it as that's my MS activity. Will have to work out if I can incorporate it into my training as a 'rest day' activity or would snoozing on the bus to or from work count? :D

I've just downloaded a training programme from RW. It's a 10 week programme but as it's just over 8 weeks til the Richmond Half I'll start it this Sunday and use the remainder of this week as a 'warmup' .

I'm looking forward to this. Should keep me on the straight and narrow for the rest of the year.

Just need to find my Garmin and the batteries/charger, plus log book

Ukevas - if you've got away with it so far, the best thing you can do is keep running and get plenty bloodflow to the affected area. I can't imagine it getting any worse if it isn't preventing you running 24hrs later.

Becky - Nice idea. I've had to think about this one for a realistic target, bearing in mind rest periods and such like. But it needs to be reasonably challenging, so I'll plump for 3,500 miles in 2009. (That should stop me getting fat:p :p )

Since that is nearly 10miles/day average for the entire year I've just had a check to see whether there's a backlog to make up:

    Jan 207.5 Miles
    Feb 305.5 Miles
Mar (so far) 116.5 Miles (10.5 days)

Total 629.5 Miles in 69.5 days. This would give an annual equivalent of 3,306....so a bit of catching up to do!!!:p :p

Uk - hope the ankle is better soon :(

Nice target Rich :D - I'm a bit behind on mine too, but I expect to get up to much higher per week mileage during the build up for Abingdon I reckon it will even out (or we'll all be playing catch-up in December ;))

I did a nice 11 miles tonight - was going to try for 14, but can still feel Sunday a little bit in the bones - weirdly though the body just kept pushing and I wasnt out of breath but I ran it a lot faster than usual - normally my 10 miles is 100 minutes or even slower this time it was 1:30 or so...opppss I was trying for a slow day ;) Pulse 90 anyway so a bit up on usual but nothing too crazy :D

    Happy running all!
  • Evening all,
well the race went well, it was 8.7km/5.2miles cross country ( a rather muddy course) and managed it in 52.16 so a steady 10min miles on a rather boggy and slippery course.
Very happy with the time i came in 43 not sure of the amount of runners as the women did a shorter course than i did.
Im going to plump for 1000 miles this year just over 3 miles a day, i think that iv got a bit of catching up to do, will have to check my spreadsheet tommorrow in work.
There was a photographer at the race so will have to see if there are any pics of me falling over in the mud!! a complete full length dive arms in first then the body followed. It was too bad until it started to dry and stretch the skin as had to travel home in that state as there werent any changing facilities!

Hi JJ. The race sounds like great fun! The trail races are so much more interesting than road races, even if 'interesting' means going head first into the mud! Well done anyway!

Becky - yes, you are officially mad! I always had my suspicions but now you have confirmed it! 50+ miles per week for a year? Yep, barking!

Seriously though, there's no way I could commit to that sort of mileage but I could probably manage to fit in about 25. I'm thinking that would be a 5, 4, 7, 9 kind of pattern every week. For me, that's do-able and something I would be prepared to commit to.

I'm still thinking about joining you for Abingdon later in the year. Sadly, OH has fallen out with running at the moment, so I'll have to work on him some more. He went out last night and did 14 miles, but seriously miscalculated his route and had to call in at a mate's house for a lift back home. I think it would have been about 19 miles if he had run home, but he was tired, cold and hungry so opted to knock on his mate's door instead. I don't even think he's going to run the 20-miler on Sunday. He says he isn't ready for it and he doesn't want to have to walk 5 miles at the end. He promises to hold my coat though if I'm well enough to run. Haven't been to work again today and still feel dreadful but I'll see how I am tomorrow.
