Well the last event i took place in, involved a santa suit, so no fashion sense there.
You know when you go to do a sports event. There is usually -
a) The man who has everything in top names, top gadgets
b) The guy who has nothing and has made do, and people look at him funny.
Well most of my childhood ive been no b), and i do not want to be no b) on the day.
So thermals, old jumper are not being worn and i want to wear something more appropiate for someone who looks like they know what there doing.
So on the day, ill be probably dressed like..
Running trainers (old)
tracksuit bottoms (loose)
t-shirt
nike dry fit top (not test yet as arrived this morning)
iPod with strap on arm
watch with timer running
phone in pocket, adjacent to £1 coin i always carry (bus, food, drink etc)
maybe water bottle, water is provided at 5kms, so might ditch this0 -

It’s interesting to see what others run in - I always run with my iPod so that I can’t hear the comments shouted from passing motorists and groups of youths. I can still hear that they’re calling out but it muffles the content and makes them easier to ignore!! :rotfl: :rotfl: I have to admit that I don’t run in shorts, I prefer to wear rather fetching smurf tights as I think that these draw less attention from idiots.
Like Alias I also take my ‘phone with me (zipped in my back pocket) just in case I need my other half to come and pick me up if I’m having an off day. It’s silly really because if I found that I couldn’t run a distance I’d walk back anyway.
Anyway, I really came on to say 'Thank You' to Becky for my plan - you're right Rich it's not too scary and does seem to lead gently into the longer distances. :T :T I won't be saying that in a few weeks though when the longer runs start kicking in.
I'll be back at some point to ask for some clarification about interval training and hills but I will read back through the thread first to see if this has already been covered. Thanks again.

Phone has worked treats, went for a run last week. Pulled muscle in groin.
Rang home, 5mins picked up..0 -
16 miles :j
It was hard work - I ran the first three with some people who said they were going slowly.......but their "slow" was 10 min mile pace, which was really not what I should have been doing, so I had to really slow it down a bit after that......I had finished my water bottle at 13 miles, and it was hot, and I was thirsty, so I called into a travel agents and asked for a refil! So I had a good couple of mins stoppage time there, and after that, I did walk a little, but ran most of the rest.
At 16 miles, my water bottle was empty again, and so I decided to call it a day, and walk the half mile or so back to the car, to ease my legs a bit.
Total time (including the stop to refil) for my 16 miles was 2 hrs 56 so I am happy with that - an average of 11.02 per mile.
If I did that for a further 10 miles, I would still be under 5 hours for my marathon, which is my aim!
I certainly didn't look cool though - started with my running jacket on, but had to tie it round my waist, and it was then flapping all over the place!
Well done, becky and rich on great runs this morning.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Well done Hypno - what a great achievement. :T You must be really pleased with that; and you've given the travel agents something to talk about too.:rotfl:
Alias -bet you were glad you had that 'phone. I definitely won't be leaving mine at home now!!!2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910
