Considering this is marathon training, and not 5k training, it all looks good.:D

That reminds me...If I'm training for this marathon in October, do you think it's still achievable to get my goal of sub40 10k along the way? Or should I be focusing on doing one or the other?

As i had broke the 6mile mark, i was looking at a 8mile 'ToughGuy' course, which is £70 to enter.

Nettle Warrior, but no one in work was up for it. :(

    Tough Guy

Tough Guy race, which consists of an eight mile-long assault course.

On the clothing note, how do i look cool.

I run with old trainers, now that have split a little on the front due to the trip, and bought a nike dry fit jacket off eBay for £14 this week.

Have loads of t-shirts, just the bottoms. I currently run in tracksuit bottoms, with my adidas trainers ive had for about 2 years, there a little worn on the sole now.

Have a waist band of water that i bought for £4 off eBay, has 3x fruit shoot size bottles and a nice pouch. Then the iPod to go on the arm.

Its a 10k road race, but a 10k fun run to me and hopefully about an hour.

Old trainers, t-shirt and a pair of shorts is pretty much all you need.

Don't get caught up spending loads of money when there's no need!

    Yep!:D

The only difference is that any speed work should be relatively long, eg 1 mile intervals, whereas training specifically for a 10k you'd throw in some shorter, faster speedwork such as 800m reps.

But marathon training will bring 10k times down without a shadow of a doubt!

I'm aiming to tick off that sub 40 minute clocking on 29th March, one week before the Blackpool Marathon.

    Thanks, Webitha!:D

Probably obese less than 6 months ago actually, but it was walking which got rid of the first chunk of weight at about a stone per month, not running.

If you're only overweight you'll be fine, but still try to get as much walking as possible done to strengthen everything ready for running...and keep the jogging comfortable. Slow, steady progression is what its all about!:D :D

I dont have the cash to go spending £££'s on running stuff, there is a few of us from work going, and i didnt want to be the poor one.

When im out running, and get overtaken by a more experienced runner, or pass someone i take note of what they are wearing, as i think im past the thermal top & bottoms with a jumper & track-suit bottom combination now.

Its getting warmer, i have shorts which are the summer type of stuff, but this spring thing i have no clothes for.

I set out one day in shorts, im too cold, thermals im toast by mile 1, just jumper & tracksuit im ok if its <5 degrees or so.

Just getting it right, and looking cool..

No oranges, bright greens, yellow etc.. as if im in the paper, i wanted not to look like a d*ck.

    Hello All!

    Nice running Alias :D

Yep Idio you can knock some time of that 10k no problem - especially if you use a 5k race as part of your speedwork or marathon training :D

Had a major 'moment' this morning caused by too many miles - got up, had brekkie, coffee, got dressed, brushed teeth then went to put on trainers and had the 'uh oh' realisation, followed by 20 minutes of looking for them - I'd only left the darned things at work ;)

Anyway, I woke up my flatmate and borrowed hers which weren't proper running trainers and a size too small but were fine for 5k - anyway my watch said 24:50 which is 30 seconds off last week and was much more comfortable - I sprinted the last 400m so I suspect the photos will be amusing ;)

So not a pb (but one for that course) so not bad considering how many miles I've put in this week :D

Official times may not go up today - something about the parkrun server being moved to Manchester...

Meeting my parents for lunch in Holborn so may get them to buy me some new trainers as I cant get mine till Monday now - ooppppss :D
