More like taking it in the spirit it was intended (where Rich when you need him to follow with more naughty suggestive jokes?!?) :D

All I know is that the more time you take doing the long, slow stuff, the more satisfying you'll find the fast stuff afterwards!;)

Evening all! Has anyone done any running today? Nobody seems to be posting about running. I have, yes, me, the lazy one who didn't run all last week has been doing intervals tonight. I know, I know....feast or famine that's me! Nothing to shout home about to be fair. A side wind on the track (isn't there always?) made the home straight and first bend a bit breezy, but it makes up for it at the other end doesn't it. So, 4 laps (remember my laps are 415m each) in 8:10, 8:21 and 8:22, giving an 8:18 average. The last interval was disappointing as I felt like I was really pushing hard, but hey ho!

In real miles my average pace tonight was 8:02 average. I'm ok with this actually, as I haven't done an interval session in absolutely ages so not too much speed sacrificed, but also none gained so I must work on this.

Working again tomorrow, than off on Wed & Thurs so I should have plenty of time to run this week. Yippee :j .

    Night all!

  • Thats very encouraging, Chickadee!:D

So your 5K speed is around 24:50 and 10K speed around 51:30, so you're still just a little push away from going sub 50.

    Not bad for being 'lazy'!:p

    Tues17/2 3 x 1 Mile Intervals (6:38, 6:09, 5:59) (Avge 6:15) (Pulse 118)

Another very Spring like morning with birds a twittering and strange creatures scurrying about in the undergrowth!

Anyway, I had plenty time to notice such things during the first interval. Its quite typical on high mileage to not be able to find the speed, its there but its better hidden than my wallet on a night out!:p

So despite a full warm up there was just not much response from the legs during that first interval meaning a 3 mile warm up is probably needed now.

However, after that the elasticity came back into the muscles and the speed started to appear. And the 3rd interval actually delivered the first sub 6:00 mile. Yeah! :j

Its about time, but still nice to tick off that particular milestone.:D

Sally - How did your runclub go last night?

Becky - Cant wait to see how your intervals have gone if you managed to get out this morning.

    Morning running friends.
Well done Rich, you are going from strength to strength. Sub-6 mile - Sadly I think I can only dream about this sort of milestone! Sub-8 would be great for me right now! :p

    3-mile warm-up  Yikes!

  • You'll be sub 8 in no time Chick if you can manage 8:02 after a few weeks of no intervals.:D

A 3 mile warm up is not untypical and is, in effect, what happened today - a very gentle mile, an accelerating mile and then the first interval!

I'm quite happy with that sesssion though if only for that 5:59, especially condsidering that there were 2 rather attractive females doing the same loop during that last interval - if I wasn't such a consummate professional I could easily have been distracted!;)

Talking of being distracted I managed to go to the wrong apartment on the way back, so someone is going to wonder who was rattling a key in their door before 7am!!! This on top of having to sort out putting unleaded into a diesel engine yesterday. What next? Is high mileage affecting my brain?:p :p

Ah! You had an incentive to run faster on your last lap then, if only to impress the ladies!

Your absent-mindedmess could be due to the high mileage. It sounds like the clumsiness you get after a long run. If you think about it, with the level of mileage you are packing in at the moment, your brain must be close to this state most of the time :p .
