Amen brother. I understand your point... but dont tell becky she will shout at you for running to fast..Cabbage Patch 09 - 10m - 1hr 06mLeicester 09 -1/2 - 1h 26m0 -
Sorry Beertins this is my fault ...I was just interested in whether the fact that mine doesnt reach the recommended meant I was missing something from my fitness training that I should be doing some other way...0

Id like to run faster!!!!!!
Im not sure how accurate my measurments of my heart rate are, as im not using a chest strap to measure it iv got a watch thats got the sensor on it that reads you heart rate from your finger. Its been a brilliant buy for only £6.99, works out calories as well so im well happy with it.
Uk iv only got short legs and still struggle with slow rythamsRunning Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -

It's no problem. Just didn't want people falsely reading too much into it. Personally I think if you're running at double your resting heart rate, it must be doing you some good. I'm no expert though...Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Maybe try concentrating on shortening your stride rather than overall speed. You should be able to keep the same rythm. Or is this what you're trying? I have trouble slowing myself down and I've only got little legs!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
I find it tough on slow runs too - but I just shorten my stride pattern to run slower - as if I was running uphill, its boring but a necessary part of training

I dont seem to have a long stride, so maybe this is why i find it hard to shorten an already short stride? I find that once iv gotten into my rythum im fine to contiunue onto longer distances at the same pace for the whole duration.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0
