Although it could be argued that the original marathon, as far as the first to be run over 26 miles 385 yards is concerned, is a lot closer to home! Windsor Castle to White City!
    Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
    Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
    Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

    Yeah, I can picture it:

Me: I just did the marathon a few months ago
Other person: Oh yes, the London marathon?
Me: No, THE marathon. From Marathon to Athens. But without the death, as you may have noticed.

Interesting. Presumably they now run Marathon to Athens via a route that covers modern Marathon distance and not the "original" Marathon-Athens route?
