Yep, you've got it.
The actual intervals form less than half the session - the warm up is the most important part, of course, and there is between 0.5 - 1.0 mile gentle warm up before the warm up mile, which is a gently accelerating mile. So that's usually 2 miles, followed by the warm down. Warm ups/downs are slightly optional for most sessions, but not when undertaking intervals.
So your maths is fine, Idio!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

Afternoon All!
So are there any lurkers out there based in central London who want a parkrun race (free 5k races) North of the River??
Here's the site:

I'm thinking Hyde Park would be great and I'm bored of treking to Wimbledon to do one...but I'm too busy to organise one by myself - come on there must be someone...
Happy running all!0 -
Just to report my first run in a while (again) - 5.4 in 41:53...7:45 pace was quite nice to blow out the cobwebs.
Will try a longer one tomorrow, weather permitting.0 -
Nice running Idio
Okay having a traumatic moment...just been on runners world for the first time in ages and some of the peeps on my hoped for pace for FLM are running 15 miles at 7:30 pace - gulp... surely thats way over what they need to be doing at this stage - Coachie??
Eeeekkk - Becky goes off to have nightmares about finishing in 6 hours...0 -

I'm no expert (as we know), but I'd have thought that 7:30 over 15 now would translate to a 7:45 or certainly <8min pace over 26 in a couple of months..., so probably a bit under 3:30...
Maybe these guys are just a bit ahead of the game
As always, don't worry - your training's going well, don't worry what other people are doing...0 -

Well thats what I thought - surely they'll be expecting to take at least a minute a mile off between now and then (I know I am) - just having a panic, because no one else on this thread is aiming for my time so I cant track their progress directly either:o
If they do get down to 7 mins a mile that'll put them at just over 3 hours which means they need to be on another thread and stop cluttering up mine - overacheivers :rolleyes:0 -

Actually you are the closest to me now I think - short distances you are ahead and you dont do many long runs so I suspect I'm slightly ahead there (thats where my strength seems to lie - plugging away at the same pace for miles and mile)
Chick's not far behind me either - which is good because it gives me a push in the right direction when I'm being lazy for fear she may overtake0
