Taking it slowly won't have done you any harm at all Ukevas - I bet you are glad you got out there.....! I hope you don't feel it too much in the morning so you can get out there again.

I am resting today - I am tired don't want to jeopardise my long mid week run tomorrow. My schedule that rich did for me says 6 m Monday, 8 on Wednesday, 6 on Friday and a long run on Sunday, so I can take today off - I was just hoping to catch up some of my missed miles from the last few weeks!

But, it is more important that I get that long run in tomorrow, I reckon, so an evening in front of the telly, with the laptop nearby is in order!

Hope you are all well x

  • Only a 4 miler tonight by myself at 9 min pace which I enjoyed, then I took the dog out and we sprinted for about a mile, 8.2 min pace.

Enjoyed my first run for over a week.

    9 miles tomorrow.

Oooo Ukevas - you're back :D I bet that felt good :D, hope all's well tomorrow too!

Hypno I think a rest after the weekend is very sensible - its easy to get into bad habits of trying to 'catch-up' and you just end up putting too much pressure on yourself I think...

Hello Rusty nice to see you out again - thats some pretty fast pace you've got going on there!!!

Well I managed 6 miles tonight, very slowly - its a tendon I've slightly strained so I'm sure it will be fine tomorrow - but I'm going to lay off speedwork till Thurs rather than push my luck!

    Happy running all :D

Hi there everyone. Thanks for asking Becky, yes I feel a bit better. I haven't run since Saturday morning though, so I'll be off out for a 6-miler tonight. There was a meeting at school last night which meant I couldn't do my intervals (again!). I haven't run on the track for ages now, but I did use last Thursday's session as a fartlek so I'm still doing some bursts of speed every now and again.

Very busy at work at the moment though, doing next year's budget so not much time to post on here. I'm also excited that I went to my optician yesterday and I may be getting some new contact lenses so I can run without my specs. :j I have funny eyes so straighforward contacts aren't OK for me, but there are new technological advances that may mean I can wear them. I'll keep you posted.

Will let you know how I get on on tonight later on.

Rich - wow! Amazing session this morning. What did you have for brekkie?
Hypno - Well done you for running, even when you felt like skipping it.

Glad you're feeling a bit better Chick :D:D

Exciting news about the contacts - hope they work out :j

be careful becky. I would hate you to have an injury setback after all the hard work you have done.

Thanks for the concern Hypno - it just goes to show why you should lay off stairs/steps after long runs...actually though its fine to run on the flat/hills - walking is more of a problem because the blood flowing during running helps to ease and stretch the tendon which helps it to repair :D

So no going crazy but slow gentle runs should promote healing :D

guess what...I did some intervals tonight. Mapped a nice 1 mile circuit (2 laps of a couple of roads). Did plan to do 3 miles with 2 mins rest in between. Only managed 2 miles (but did remember that you struggled at the start becky) but did them in 8:20 and 8:17 :) I is a happy lady! Next week need to get that 3 mile in now though!

    Mon9/2 Rest Day
    Tues10/2 3 x 1 Mile Intervals (6:23, 6:10, 6:03) (Avge 6:12) (Pulse 120)
    Tues10/2 10K 54:47 (8:50/mile) (Pulse 86)

A nice relaxing 10K to end the day, although this one was a little later than I would have liked.

Well done Ukevas and Rustybucket on good steady runs.

Hypno, you're doing the right thing, trying to catch up on lost mileage is never a good idea.!

5 miles of 'active rest' is just about right, Becky. Lets see how it shapes up tomorrow but its just a case of not overstretching if at all possible and, as you say, avoiding stairs.

Hope your run has gone well Chickadee!:D

PS Nicely done, Sally - welcome to the world of intervals, they pay you back for all the effort you put into them. You'll come to love them......eventually!

    Well done rich!

Yes, I am glad that I took the rest option - I really am tired through so think it would have been counterproductive to have gone out today.

Tomorrow is another matter though, and I am already arranging with DD to wait behind at karate so I can possibly get another lap in :rotfl:
