Bad news about M&S Val. That does sound like the kind of thing my sis would do too. Can you go back tomorrow to see if you can pick up another one?

No wedding update from me. Had a hugely hectic day at work today and am severely tempted to call in sick tomorrow, but I know I'll feel too guilty and won't :( My usual trick would be to skive off for the afternoon and "go see a Client" but now they've put a tracker in my car so that one doesn't work quite as well nowadays :o

So what's everyone's plans for the Bank Hol weekend? I need to prep my garden for the pre-wedding photos. Need to crazy pave the left side of my garden as it's just grown into a mass of weeds and crap. I think I know what to do - I have the crazy paving slabs. Just need some concrete and the know-how lol. Oh well, trial and error I guess :)

Sisters  lol, she did seem a bit upset about it...well as upset as my sister gets. Unfortunately I cant get the morning off work again but a lady on the Grabbit board said she is going tomorrow and will see if she can get one for me.
Just phone in sick...I would but then Ive been pretty much sacked already. lol.
My Bank Holiday seems to be drinking, drinking and bit more drinking...not good for the diet but hey ho;)

So what's everyone's plans for the Bank Hol weekend?

It's my hair trail tomorrow! I'm sooo excited :) then shopping after and a 241 meal in pizza express courtesy of this site.

Hopefully I'll be shopping for our wedding rings finally!

Have you thought of what thank you gifts you'll be giving and to whom? Definitely my bridesmaids, bestmen, Mum's and Dad's but I've also got people who have helped a lot too - what to do?

Hey Val - I had the same idea but Ive been so busy this week I couldnt take advantage... hope you manage to get the items you like and that your bridesmaids love them.

SmlSave - I have bought silk eye masks (for sleeping, hopefully you know what I mean) for all 4 bridesmaids and the girls who helped to make my invitations and the girl who will help decorate the venue. One of the girls is also doing a reading so I will be buying her a lily corsage to wear as well. I will also buy my bridesmaids a necklace and earring set to wear on the day but also as a keepsake present. For my chief bridesmaid, she has had to put up with a lot so I have bought her a wallet by her favourite designer. It was on sale and she does deserve it. Also buying my mum a lily corsage.

For the 4 groomsmen, we are going to buy cufflinks as a keepsake thank you that can also be worn on the day. I will get these for my dad as well. I have bought a silk tie to be worn on the day that they can all keep. I want to get something extra for the best man too.

Would quite like to handmake some thank you cards for all guests, but particularly for the helpers and make sure we write in a personalised thank you note.

I have my first fitting on tuesday (when I made the appointment I didnt know it was following a bank holiday weekend, stupid me!! I will be eating bbqs and pub meals and drinking the whole time so will be very disappointed with the measurements after all the getting up at 6am to exercise since november! oh well) - I looked up the address to send to one of the BMs thats coming with me as she hasnt seen the dress yet. And to my horror, I came across this thread. http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/index.php/chatroom/topic/131852
    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I am in exactly the same situation, bought the dress in a sale and then paid £275 on the spot for alterations. forewarned is forearmed I suppose.

Hope everyone has a fab weekend

Blimey Steph  At least you can go in and be prepared. Do you think many alterations need to be made? I hope it all goes well. I need to call my shop and book my second fitting. I bought my dress in the sample sale and we agreed on £500 for the dress and £100 for the alterations and cleaning. I paid the £500 at the time, but I'm not paying the £100 until my dress is ready to go.

    Oooh, nearly the weekend :j

Scary thread steph, will you let us know how it goes? Don't worry about enjoying your bank holiday though, you're going to have to eat on the day itself remember!

Your thank you gifts sound lovely, I'm going to try and chat to OH bout this. I found a site called winegifts4u where you can get personalised bottles of wine/whisky for £10 which I thought would be nice but then they're not lasting gifts are they? Maybe I'm fussing too much again....

Well i thought I would contribute into this:

It looks like Sweetsend now knows what dress I ahve been telling them about for the past 2 weeks. Now starts the scary part of getting them to understand my mods on said dress.

Also found that we could hire a Jag for the 3 days (getting married over bank holiday august) and insure the excess if we do so in the name of my BIL.

2 of my best BM are finishing their coursework next week so will be able to help me out, finally some help.

I would say to stay away from the Wedidng Wholesale Supplier: we ordered some silk roses from there in February and they still have not arrived, communication is far from professional and extremely sporadic.

Trying to get some people to sned me samples regarding their chair covers but nothing. I hate when people that actually want your business cannot be bothered to reply to you.

I've kind of ground to a halt.

We're still waiting for the vicar to send us an information pack he promised weeks ago, might chase that up in the week. Photographer is coming over on Tuesday to discuss what we want and to have a look at the church.

Still haven't decorated the cake, but that's not exactly urgent! Will make up the extra favours at some point.

11 weeks tomorrow for us August 8 ladies (77 days!) :rotfl:

Sammy_Girl - probably very sensible of you not to pay upfront, I just thought it would be easier but looking back I could have probably got a better deal elsewhere. Nothing much even needs doing, I went to my BMs house last night to pick up the dress and the skirt fits perfectly (I have told myself that the zip mustnt have done up in October as clearly I have lost weight lol), the skirt does probably need shortening so that I can walk properly. The corset I would like taking in a bit at the middle. So not much work needs doing. I still need to get a veil but theres no way I am paying CC prices, I will try some on to get an idea and will then be straight on ebay!!

SmlSave - thanks I will let you know how it goes, but as you say, no point worrying about it, the bank holiday is here to be enjoyed. I like what I see out of the window - clear sunny skies so in a couple of hours time I will be on my terrace enjoying the weather and naughty bbq food :)

Trying to get my H2B to sort out his suit hire is a nightmare - the only job he has to do and I have sent him a few links and he still hasnt looked at it!! Has everyone else sorted theirs yet?
