Hi all,
I too have been ripped of by Rentapad\Thom Doherty for a considerable amount. I have issued a CCJ and he has not even bothered to make the first payment. I see from earlier posts that an organised group\lynch mob was going to be setup to try and get money back or at the very least stop this man from trading - has anything been setup? I would like to join.
Thanks

Hi Lister
I emailed Lampkin on here to see what we do and express an interest, but I'm still waiting for a response! It's been pretty quiet on here recently, so not quite sure what's happening!
I'm still waiting for a copy of my lease (I've been in the property for 3 1/2 months now) and I really need to see it at the moment due to an access issue!
How long have you been dealing with scummy doherty?
Kel0 -
Hi Kel,
I dealt with him for about 6months. I should have terminated the contract sooner but I niavely let hime get away with excuse after excuse. I am a great deal of money out of pocket and even if i cant get my money back - I want him shut down and unable to trade again.
I'm still trying to decide whether to issue an enforcement against him, but I hear rumours he has moved office location and setup a new company - so I need to be 100% certain where to send the bailiffs?

Hi Lister
The post I put on here the other day seems to be the most up to date! I put it on from his new website (same company, but now a web-based letting agent).
The website is listed in my previous posting with the address/tel details - just couldn't post the link as I'm still new! Not sure how it works sending the bailiffs for someone operating out of a PO Box though?
I can assure you it's the same company - I'm letting through Manchester Letting Centre, but the contact numbers I had always went to the voicemail for Rentapad - same company, same crook on the other end!
And rest assured Lister, Thom is reading this so he'll know what's happening... anything you don't want him knowing, put it in private messages!0 -

We're currently in the process of trying to get the council to do something, it seems that they will only take notice if multiple individuals complain. We've been speaking with Keith Burns:

The following have also been cc'd in correspondence with Mr Burns: Cc: cllr.i.donaldson@manchester.gov.uk; s.ferraiol@manchester.gov.uk
I'm sure it can only help if everyone here emails a brief complaint to Mr Burns.0 -
I was living in a building Rentapad took over a couple of years back. When I moved out they first tried to deny that they had any record of deposit then gave me the royal run around getting it back. I got it eventually after bringing the LL into it. i was horrified the other day when viewing a flat in Chorlton to have none other than Thom Doherty turn up to show me round as manchester lettings agency. I will try and spread awareness of this where I can.0

""Now I am told by the tenants that he supposedly removed it from one scheme and put it in another, but without any proof of it being deposited in the new scheme.""
as a LL this confuses me - i dont see how it is possible to legitimately remove deposit monies from one scheme and register them with another scheme without the tenants full knowledge - DPS require both LL & T to separately go onto their website and input their personal security info and agree the release of funds....
Mydeposits do not contact the T to tell them their deposit has been protected - they leave that up to the LL - but DPS definitely contact the tenant on lodgement of monies by the LL.0 -
So people know, we're still chasing this and he's not off the hook. Please can people forward details to my personal address at:

Hello all,
I am a landlord and having been notified by my deposits scheme that rentapad were no longer a member I was advised by Thom Doherty that he would place the deposit in a different scheme but of course didn't. I have joined the scheme myself to give tenant peace of mind but I will have to sue rentapad for the return of the deposit. If anyone can give me any information to help me track him down (the office at lapwing lane seems to be shut down), so i can serve him with a summons i would be most grateful..0
