Get yourself pregnant with no means of support lass. That's the way forward.0 -
While i agree with most of the comments this thread is becoming discussion and no doubt will turn into a benefit bashing thread, please dont allow it to be yet another thread moved to discussion time.When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0

I know, there's another thread around where someone quotes an amount and says that's all she has to live on , but, when asked, admits that she gets rent and CT paid as well. It's such a strange way of looking at things!

Why do people who dont like people on benefits...come to the benefits board and choose to read and comment on threads about people who claim them for what ever reason???...you all must have pretty sad lives if all youve got to do is troll round boards looking to tar everyone with the "scrounger" brush to make yourselves feel superior!Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -
OP you can return to work and continue to breast feed. I went back to work when my ds was just under 4months old. I suggest you start expressing and get ds used to taking the bottle for atleast 1 feed per day. I used the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles and he never looked back. I would feed in the morning. He would have expressed milk for two of his feeds at the childminders, then I would feed him his evening meals. While at work I would express at roughly the time he would be feeding. I believe that it is a human rights thing that companies have to give you time to express for a child. Although I personally came in early and only had half lunch to make up the time. I would use the medical room at work and we were lucky that I had access to a fridge to store it until I could freeze it when I got home.0

Not at all, but the comments made by the original poster could certainly get the back up of a hard working tax payer.
I personally feel that the benefits handed out for children is very very generous. (A long way from ''they dont give you much do they'':rolleyes: )
Just an example of how much the O.P will be receiving...
IS = £60.50 x 52 = £3146
CB = £33.20 x 52 = £1726
CTC = 1x £545 1x£545 2x £2085 = £5260
CM = £10 x 52 = £520
HSV = £6 x 52 = £312
Total disposable income AFTER housing costs and council tax = £10,964pa or £913.66pm
Now i'm pretty sure a lot of working families would LOVE to have over £900pm leftover after their housing and CT costs are taken into consideration.
Whilst im here i'll theoretically calculate your LHA and CTB
LHA = £250pw x 52 = £13,000
CTB = £1500 (-25% SD) = £1,125
Add this to the £10,964 above and the total amount of benefits DavenKirst is receiving is £25,089
£2090.75 per month
To earn £2090.75 or £25,089 per annum you would have to have a Gross income of around £34,000 pa.
This is £34k just to break even to match the amount of benefits received by DavenKirst.
I have of course missed out on all the other passport benefits, free dental, prescriptions, school meals and god knows what else. Additional to that they have no work related expenses, travel to and from work etc. Benefits go up every April etc etc
So when someone on benefits comes along and says ''they dont give you much do they'' Is it a wonder why the hardworking tax payer may get his back up about it:rolleyes:
DavenKirst is better off than most believe it or not.
Its criminal, absolute criminal and the reason as to why this country is in the state it is in. Benefit claimants could at least show an ounce of gratitude. The system is far far too generous, the sooner the tories come in and stop this nonsense the better

:eek: I WISH!!! that is NO where near the ammout i get!! ...
My housing benefit is not £250 pw!! ..mine is £87 pw!! lol ...and i have to top up the rest of the rent myself.
i dont get that much IS either..i only get £42.45
and £40 CTC
then the standard £20 (just went up) Child Benefit that everyone (including workers) get.
i think some people think that people on benefits get more than they do cause i dont get anywhere near what you described ..i wish i did..then id be able to buy some gas and turn the heating on more often ..:oHaving a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne

Why do you only get £42.45 when the basic amount is £60.50? Are you in arrears? If so, you are still being paid £60.50 but a portion of that is being used to pay back overpaid money in the past. As politely as i can put, you are still costing the tax payer £60.50pw
Housing benefit is irrelevant here, £87pw or £250pw only depends on where you live in the country. In the south where rents are expensive, £250pw is the norm for LHA, in London it may be 2x/3x this amount.
The main point here is you get a free roof over your head, and you do not need to pay CT.
CTC, i assume you have 1 child (Not 2 like the O.P) will be £2085+£545 = £2630pa/52 = £50.57pw
Again if you are ''only'' receiving £40pw i suspect you are paying back arrears. If so, you are still getting £50.57pw, you are just paying back what you owe back through overpayments.0 -

Because we're the people who have the knowledge to give benefits advice. Do you?0 -
The OP lives in Brighton where the LHA for 3 bed accommodation is £250 pw so this is the amount she will receive. You obviously live somewhere cheaper and have only one child so you will be eligible for less.Damzel_In_Distress wrote: »:eek: I WISH!!! that is NO where near the ammout i get!! ...
