    Hi Mustangsal and all,

I really hope you are feeling a little better now and your dog has settled a bit. I was so proud of you for going to the GP as I know that can be a massive step. I have to go again this afternoon and my dog is grabbing on to my leg to stop me. Its a real help to me to know that there are people on this forum who are in the same situation. Just to let you know I'll be thinking of you this afternoon.

well, i made it to the park!:j managed to keep the panic under control. little one bumped his lip, and it bled. i didn't panic, he was such a little trooper. didn't even cry. just wanted back on the swing. bless him. it was lovely, warm and sunny all day. i am so shattered now. an hour or so of fresh air and i'm floored. guess that's what happens when you can count on one hand the number of times you've been past the front door in over 4 months. i feel positive now though. going to keep trying everyday. my oh went away to his folks to help out with some stuff, and i've managed most of the day on my own. got little one bathed and in bed. he was so good, didn't think he would be as he's got a runny nose. and he hates it. well, gonna go. i just had to post. had something positive t say for a change. hope everyone is fine, and dogs not behaving too badly. xxx

  • Hi everyone and thanks moneysavingmonkey85 and LameWolf for your praise re: my GP visit. I'm waiting for the new me to arrive! I hope I'll get a new body too! ;)

I'm on my own tonight. My OH has gone to help an aunt, who runs a dancing club once a month, she needs help since her husband died. I used to go too, but I can't face it now. Its about 20 miles away and involves three buses/train journeys/hill walking and is too much for me - and I can't face going out. I feel guilty for not going.

I've been reading this thread and it made me cry because I cry easily at the moment and because I think we have so much in common. Apart from the dog, its the feelings of lethargy, isolation, loneliness (and often pain) and the guilt for the way we feel and behave. I wish I had a magic wand that would make us be ordinarily happy and pain free - just like other people.

mustangsal - Well done in getting out to the park. That was brave of you.

Some of the things that people have said on here makes me think that fighting the depression can help. I think that making yourself do something (however small) makes you feel better about yourself and can lighten the dog. It makes you feel you've achieved something. It would be great to make yourself do more and more, but its difficult to motivate. But I'm going to take inspiration from everyone's brave efforts and try.

moneysavingmonkey85 - I've just found this. Maybe you could see if there's a GP near you and maybe you could register, if you feel up to it. http://www.nhs.uk/servicedirectories/Pages/serviceSearch.aspx

I'm thinking of you all. ;)

    Hi guys,

I've noticed this thread has been a bit quiet for the last few days. I hope everyone is alright and the dogs are being quiet. Hopefully I'm just being over protective!
I'm taking my black dog with me to see my counsellor now. I've been told by my GP that I have PCOS which is messing up my hormones and making the depression worse She wants to prescribe the pill but can't cause I'm too fat, but says it will be hard for me to lose weight without the pill regulating my hormones. Catch 22 then eh? I'm depressed and comfort eat, my hormones make me put on weight easier which makes me more depressed so I eat more. Sigh!
Sorry to be a bit miserable today.:(

Good luck with the counsellor, Marrowgirl.

Dog seems to be lying down quietly at the mo, sorry I haven't posted a great deal, been extremely tired. Something to do with going into bull-at-a-gate mode whenever I have the slightest bit of energy, and then spending the next 3 days flat on my back.:o One day I'll learn to pace myself.......

    Hey everyone,
Marrowgirl: your gp sounds great! i also have pcos. it's a right royal pain in the bum! my gp is lovely but not great at explaining how everything is linked. it's only recently i've discovered all the vicious circles within depression, pcos, etc. so hopefully we'll both learn to deal with it.

my flaming dog has really been getting to me ths last while, to top it yesterday was my sons birthday and i was stressed out getting things ready for him (also got his party saturday) and then my washing machine broke. flooded the kitchen, and is going to be more expensive to repair than replace. which makes not a bit of difference as i have no funds to do either. i just sat on the floor and cried. couldn't do anything else.

today is a bit more quiet thankfully. i will get there. hope everyone else is having a better time of it. not that i'm feeling sorry for myself or anything.

Awww Sal, sometimes you do just have to cry. I'd have done the same.

I hope your Dog is giving you some peace today.

I certainly hope the 2nd hand WM works out. I'd hate to have to do washing by hand (used to, years ago; used to have to soak ex-H's work gear in the bath overnight:eek:). Chin up, mate, as one of the regulars on the Old Style board says, "It could be worse - there could be snakes!".:o

Love it! made me laugh for the first time in days, thanx LameWolf.:rotfl:

Hope you get your washing machine sorted out soon MustangSal.
My GP has prescribed blood pressure pills now, I'm so full of pills i'm sure I must rattle. My counsellor cancelled yesterday  so reading your posts was a tonic.
