Candy - what a lovely letter to have received, must've brought a tear to the eye though x

Sybil - never ever leave nail polish where LB can reach it! DD1 and her little friend decided to give themselves manicures, then pedicures with a bottle of deep crimson polish, unfortuately they were in my all white bedroom when they did it! And never ever never leave small boys alone with stamp pads! ds and his small pal were happily stamping power rangers onto pieces of paper, apparently supervised by their dads, well the Sunday papers and hangovers distracted the watchers, and my friend and I came downstairs from making all the beds to find both boys naked and stamped all over, and I mean everywhere, not to mention my dining table, carpet, walls, chairs, even the wine in the wine rack and the poor old pot plant! I scrubbed the furniture and carpet whilst my friend took scourers to the boys in the shower! Still on the plus side, whenever my ds and dd1 are left in charge of smaller children they are pretty eagle eyed and alert, so the experience was sort of worthwhile!

Well I've hoovered, chatted to a friend on the phone and done some cupboard sorting in the kitchen, time for another cuppa!

    Morning all,

Mild and even a little sunny here....temperature not great but am going to chance putting clothes that are nearly washed on line outside and hope for the best!

Chicken stir-fry for dinner to-night, OH is in day hospital so will have a four course lunch so will not need serious feeding this evening...problem with left arm continues, apparently it is muscular but he is in serious pain and the arm seems to be wasting above the elbow.

Aussie...the crowd from Brissie seem to have coped all right with temperature in Edinburgh, grooms father had a problem holding his kilt up all day, no hips apparently, it was fun to watch him dancing on Saturday night!

WS...surprised that your little boy is being referred for speech therapy at this stage....none of my three sons spoke as early as the four girls...males are never good at multi-tasking so need to climb, fall, spread havoc ( and Sudocreme) and other IMPORTANT things far more than they need to speak! You are a great mother so make your mind up to that please!
Beth....where do you fit in the reading time? I read A thousand splendid suns at the weekend...lovely book, I enjoyed the Kite Runner too.

Specsappeal....how awful that a decision has not been made on your nephew's cause of death....I had assumed that it was that awful Sudden Adult Death Syndrome which seems to hit young, active men, sorry to hear that it may have been something more awful.

Clothes sorted and nothing else to be washed...until I do a trawl around my bedroom which still has to be cleared of bags, paper etc left over from Christmas, I am sure that there is something hidden underneath somewhere.

Need food but not urgently so am going to try to stay out of the shops to-day, will do a full list tonight and then shop to-morrow....if I am thorough I will hopefully be able to stay away for at least a week. When I first started trying to cut down on food spending I found it very difficult not to do a weekly shop as I had done all my married life, I now don't have a problem staying out of shops and it certainly helps...some of the substitutions have been funny but nobody starved.

Celyn...book yourself into a hotel for OH's parental/sibling visit and leave them to it....would murder anyone who tried that lark with my food in my house!

Pink...enjoy Dublin, will take your mind off missing DD. I found it difficult when DD1 left home for college, she was home every weekend, thought I would lose my life when she went to Germany for third year, as she was only home at Christmas and Easter, but we both survived, the only other one I missed dreadfully was DS1 when he went to Japan for a whole year after he graduated...have got used to them coming and going now 20 years on. Next time you give her a food parcel, put it in her check in luggage, shouldn't be a problem then.
Hugs and kind thoughts to Hester, Csarina and OH, Coldstream and anyone else in need I have been adding to this post for over an hour so pardon any omissions, not intentional...not morning anymore either!

Celyn - How do you not giggle at your mother in law? Could you just tell her at your next meal time that the leaseholder has forbidden voodoo on the premises? This is one matter where I would take a very firm stand with your dear heart. You need your sanity - you are attached to it, you're used to it and you are sure you will need it in the future!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: * I have coffee on my screen now*

I have told OH that the metal stick isn't allowed in the house, but he's too scared to tell her. And I don't speak German - although to be honest, in some cases, I am sooo glad there is a language barrier.

If anyone knows how to say "mad as box of frogs" I'd be very grateful :D

Apparently it's to do with energy  What I don't understand is why some veg isn't allowed but its perfectly okay to eat most processed rubbish and unhealthy stuff. I didn't think that was how it was supposed to work. (Honestly, you should see her shake it over cream cake to make it move the way she wants it :rotfl: I had to excuse myself that day)

I am going to hide non-vibrating bad food in pasta sauce *sniggers*

mummysaver - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: at the stamp pad. My brother had one when he was little and we would find ghosts stamped all round the house, with his name signed underneath them.

Candy - that is a lovely thing for your family to recieved
beth - that's so sweet - glad you had a great time

    Hello everyone:D

Well someone breathed too hard and my power supply died completely:rolleyes: But good old postie brought me a new one a few minutes ago, so I’m celebrating by trying to catch up here.

specs appeal, I can’t begin to imagine what it feels like to be in your family’s position. Condolences and hugs. I hope they are able to discover what happened soon. It won’t bring him back, but not knowing is added torture.

Just seen your post Pink, enjoy Dublin. Beautiful city, and such lovely countryside nearby. I’ve just discovered, since Dad died, that I have strong Irish connections on my mother’s side. Makes me more determined to do a family tree. Haribo always says you're a brilliant cook, didn't know your concoctions were lethal weapons:rotfl:

It’s lovely having the laptop back, a good source of warmth when your boiler has died. It died during Sunday night. No heating at all in this house, and no hot water either. I’m managing on one tiny 1KW fan heater , and boiling big saucepans of water on the hob. Having a bath takes several saucepans, so DH and I shared this morning. Oh the romance of it:rotfl: BG came out today. Boiler’s broken. What a surprise. Will order the parts in, should be here tomorrow. What a waste of time, they just don’t carry spares nowadays.

OS will be fairly limited. The ironing is getting done at a promptness unknown in this house before:o In fact DH and I are fighting over who gets to do it (warmth you see) and we’ve realised that vacuuming releases hot air too, so the floors are spic and span. Cooking is not too bad, but my kitchen does a good impersonation of a freezer, so only in short bursts. Dusting etc, nah. Doesn’t generate enough heat.
Have to go shopping soon, ooooh goody, shops are warm. And the car’s got a heater, bliss.:D

And add to that this site is being very s-l-o-w for me and my thanks button won't work:confused: Still worse things happen at sea, as my dear old mum used to say.

Bye for now, back later. CM x

just remembered I forgot to say ((hugs)) to coldstream. And candygirl, how lovely about your Dad, shame he missed it, but at least you and mum know.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

    Afternoon all.

((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today.

Halight I hope the meeting actually takes place today, so that you know where you stand, and can plan accordingly.

Mudgekin well done on stopping smoking; do persevere; from my own experience, you’ll feel somewhat yuk to start with, because you’re doing something different from what your body has got used to, but if you can get through that stage, you’ll reap the benefits (think how much healthier your purse will be – that’s what got me through it LOL).

Celyn if anyone started waving metal rods over food I put in front of them, they’d be likely to get the rod poked somewhere they didn’t want it! Deffo get them to go to a hotel.

Sybil I’ve had run-ins with British Gas, also. We finally kicked them into touch after they “fixed” the water pump by putting the wrong part on it and not tightening it up, and found ourselves a CORGI registered chap locally, who is very good.

Mr LW is going to Dungeons & Dragons tonight, and wants me to go with him (says it’ll “do me good to get out”). Currently I’m trying to fathom how to tell him I really am not up to it, without hurting his feelings. He has this look when he’s disappointed, like a spaniel pup that’s just been kicked, and it breaks my heart to have to say No to him

Whether I go or not, it'll be a bit of a rush this evening, so I'll make a cheese & Quorn quiche in a bit, for something quick to serve up for dins. The other thing I want to do today is go through my skirts, and turf some out for the charity shop. We didn't go after all last weekend, as other stuff got in the way, but we have it scheduled for Saturday. I have one box of stuff packed up, and Mr LW has brought another empty box out of the loft.

Oh well, onwards and upwards - next door is making a heck of a racket today; if he keeps it up, I shall be sorely tempted to shove his drill down his throat.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

well I haven't made the hobnobs yet, but I have cleared out the fridge and made a yummy veg soup for lunch - just about to pop some pre-bake baguettes into the oven to warm up to go with it (much as I try I can't make bread and even my forray into BM's wasn't brilliant so it got passed onto my mum who loves it and it seems to work for her!!!)

Hubby keeps getting in the way, bless him, but still managed a couple of loads of washing, tidied up the house and emptied the DW. Looking forward to a quiet afternoon.

  • Hi all

Hope everyone is having a good day.

This is a quickie for me. My puter still has the trojan and it appears to be in the registry - my puter keeps sticking and I have typed this message 3 times now and lost it due to having to reboot. Trying to download new anti virus software but if that fails - will have to wipe and start again.

Haven't read the threads for two days - haven't been able to get online much at all.

Tristan has a virus that has gone to his heart. He needs an operation but isn't strong enough for it. He is home on IV meds and a nurse. I can't say any more 'cos I will cry.

Treacle had another fit right at the same time on Sunday night/Monday a.m. just as Tristan was waiting for the ambulance to come get him... It never rains but it pours.

Gentle hugs to all who need them. When my puter is fixed I will be back properly.

    Diva.x
