However- I have heard bad things in the press about them. This includes long waits for connection and very poor customer service.
Does anyone have any comments on TalkTalk ? Are they actually any good ?
TalkTalk has one of the worst records for customer service of any ISP.
For an independent view you can compare all the ISPs by going to:

The site will tell you all you want to know about broadband.

Hi, not sure if this is of any use to anyone, but I received a letter from now wireless (https://www.mynow.co.uk). Not sure if they are any good, and I have decided to go with metronet (not a massive endorsement - but now do not provide services in my area). Anyway, think it is definitely the dheapest £10 a month, for a 12 month contract, no installation charges, etc...Hope this helps someone?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. The £10 package from mynow is only 256kb. I didn't know anyone was still offering this speed these days. It's extremely slow. Their top speed seems to be 1gb for £18 a month which is dear compared to most other ISPs.
Metronet is owned by Plusnet and looks a much better bet. Plusnet were recently taken over by BT.

I've been with TalkTalk since July last year and after initially - in the first month or so - losing the connection quite frequently, I've had no problems at all. The speed does fluctuate somewhat but not enough to upset me. I use the free phone call facility a lot. My sister lives in Canada and we like to chat, so it's great for me.
My friend, who signed up at the same time, never received the modem and filter pack but went active with them at the same time I did, using his own modem. He phoned several times and was promised the modem pack, but gave up in the end. It never arrived and he is quite happy using his original modem and has no other problems with TalkTalk.

Hello from a newbie!
I'm with Tiscali for now paying £12-98/month for a 1MB service. My contract ends in April and i phoned them yesterday to find out what they would do to keep me a customer. The short answer was nothing!
Apparently, you need to time your phonecall carefully, so I will be phoning them in a few weeks.
Can anyone suggest the best tack to take with customer services when asking for discounts, i.e. is it better to plead or demand?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -

Ring them about a month before your contract is ending. Tell them you are going to change ISPs and want a MAC. This normally gets them going with offers.
The MAC is the number you need to transfer from one ISP to another.
