We are all entitled to our opinions etc, but no need to give CG19a a 'virtual' beating IMO - whether you think he/she is right or wrong.
I for one, would definitely 'fight' my corner with this offer if I were to get it (which I'm not - as I don't shop at Mr T's often), but that doesn't give me the right to call other posters names or whatever.0 -
Having read through this I think if the OP had made a point on insisting on the more expensive wine then the store's customer services would have been best informed to let them have it and then simply pop down the aisle and remove the signage, there may have been no mention of the offer instore then but would have avoided any more problems, this would have worked similarly in other stores, I worked for Tesco as a trainee manager over 5 years ago and this is what we did in my store.
Tesco's is such a large company that mistakes are bound to happen, and often do, and there are people who actually make a living going from store to store to take advantage of them, so it is obviously a problem Tesco need to take seriously. I think all shops (not just supermarkets) are just as bad for pricing errors and badly worded (or plain misleading) adverts and it is something trading standards should make the retail industry more accountable for.
Thanks to the OP for the post, hopefully people have managed to get a few good bottles of wine from this which is essentially why people visit the site.0 -

I'm not too keen on the tone of the row that's broken out, but at the risk of getting dragged into it, I think those who are screaming 'foul' and threatening trading standards, might be on a bit of a sticky wicket. Isn't a label or a price display simply an 'offer to trade'? I'm sure I remember seeing somewhere that until the customer gets to the checkout and a final price is agreed, then the 'contract' on the trade doesn't exist.Reason for edit? You are partly right, the offer to treat can be withdrawn prior to sale, but that is not what is being advocated by CG19, what he or she is suggesting is that if you are overcharged at h/her store that they are in some position to determine whether or not the contract formed at time of overcharging is to be honoured post contract, CG is not in such a position to do so.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
