POSSIBLE tesco bargain - any bottle of wine for 9pounds?

You're right - it's an invitation to treat - BUT on the other side of the coin, the following factors land Tesco deeply in the brown stuff:
1. The "double the difference" policy, as displayed in every store, is also contractual and binding under s14 of the Trade Descriptions Act (and, notably, its wording doesn't contain any caveats about "genuine customers only" :rotfl: )
2. It's a criminal offence under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 for a trader to display misleading pricing indications
3. It's also an offence under the new EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive which came into force in the UK in May 2008 - see the excellent website www.isitfair.eu for more on this
The Tesco staff who have contributed to this thread would be well advised to do some homework on the above laws.
Indeed I think you should do some of your own.....Tesco shows due diligence, like I said they dont deliberately set out to overcharge anyone, trading standards are welcome at my store anytime(so are nice customers

what i cant understand is why any managers care about trying to save a few quid for tesco, because for 1 tesco can afford it and 2 they treat the staff like dirt!!
Have you had a bad experience working there? Im still there after 12 years, so cant be that bad!
And why care? I for one have shares in the company thanks0 -

the managers in my store are awfull and dont care at all about there staff, morale is very low and there is a real barrier between the general staff and management.
i too have shares in tesco. In the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it0 -

Its not always easy, and sometimes it can lead to staff being reprimanded, and ultimately in disciplinary and even dismissal every time a customer comes in for refunds because the correct SEL isnt on display?
Just a thought  .........
I think most people, in any line of work get reprimanded if they make too many mistakes, the lesson there is that the mistakes shouldnt be made in the first place, not that people shouldnt point them out.
So if someone gets overcharged on something they should..
A, Keep quiet for fear of getting someone into trouble? So the mistake goes unoticed and hundreds of other people get overcharged?
Or
B, They point it out, get rewarded for doing so (double the difference) and the person that made the mistake get a slapped wrist?
I'd go with B every time
My only problem is that its not the right wrists being slapped.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
To get back on topic - it would be nice to know what wines are actually in the offer (and which finest meals) if anyone knows?
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!
