Trade Descriptions Act doesn't exist anymore......it was replaced in 2008.

It hasn't been expressly repealed, ergo it still very much exists. But anyway that's irrelevant as the EU UCPD (which I later referred to in my post) is more wide-reaching and incorporates every provision in the TDA1968 and then some.

Essentially it is the staff's money as around 150,000 of the 220,000 staff in the UK are shareholders, in the word's of Tesco, Every Little Helps.

So if it is the staffs money, why arent they more careful to avoid these things?
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • as said many times before tesco never get in touch via clubcard info when they have previously overcharged a customer to refund the difference. so grab back what ya can when ya can the sneaky gits they are.

Who would win Tesco or the customer? There's only one way to find out...FIGHT!

  • There are a lot of people on this forum who took Tesco at their word on the old policy whereby if you were overcharged, you got the item for free (R+R). Some Tesco staff were horrid, lied, cheated and would not honour the policy, even banning customers (Me included). As a consequence, some people hate Tesco with a vengance (Me included) and want to take Tesco at every opportunity!
    Hope this clarifies the issue?

SO Tesco increases prices?? Yes, so do Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons

By more than 50%? Only to reduce them a couple of weeks later claiming massive discounts. Not exactly honest!

I'll try not to take offence at being called an idiot, but no I'm not "centralised," I'm actually based in store, and I am one of those guys who you moan at for not having the stock in store. The recent big offers were done centrally and believe me we have all had a good moan at head office for getting it spectacularly wrong on those.

The nature of the business is I have to balance availability against waste. It is very difficult to order enough stock to meet customer demand without having too much, causing waste. I try my best and believe me I keep plenty of notes as I try to improve it the next time the promotion comes around.

If you are ever unhappy about availability instore, call Dundee customer services 0800505555, they will take down all the details and then it will be fed back to the relevant people whether it be store or the buyers.

If you are not "centralised" then you are not one of the idiots that I was complaining of - so you have no need to be offended:D . I suspect that it must be the centralised ones that make the decision about how much of a special offer item is stocked (certainly seems to be so at my local stores as the staff complain that they do not get the amount they ordered and that they had doubled the order to take into account the BOGOF) so I forgive you on that one:D - but would have to agree that if the sign does not specify any particular lines/types and says ANY wine, then until it is changed I would expect to choose ANY wine and get it.

No, what I meant by that is that it is a human being who makes the POS and it is a human who puts it out. Mistakes can be made. That said however, I didn't realise how emotive a thread this would turn out to be and apologise if I've annoyed anyone. All I ask of people is remember that mistakes can happen, I've dealt with too many "customers" who demand the earth when something goes wrong.

In the interests of reconciliation my advice is that if you are going to argue the point about this or any other offer, pay for it first then take it to the customer service desk, that way you can claim double the difference.

To me that is fair enough...s/he made a comment which didn't go down at all well;) and has had the grace to ensure we don't get refused the deal...we benefit more by complaining AFTER the sale is transacted. :T

    Let's stop the bullying!

Thank you to the OP, Calnen for bringing this to our attention!

If I see the sign tomorrow I will put half a trolley of Champagne on the conveyor belt before the half trolley of meal deal stuff, hope it doesn't get reduced, (obviously being completely unaware of the total as I was only entering a pin number:confused::confused:) and have a field day at CS with DTD, when I do happen to notice!!:D
It's nice to be nice .....
You HAVE checked google before asking, haven't you?;)
If you use the "search this thread" button at the top of the page, you may find it's been answered already!;)

With the "centralised" promotions we are as frustrated as the customers if not more so because we have to deal with their disappointment. We have a process in store where we can feed this back to the buyers via the main board, but it is also good if the customers log complaints via Dundee to help speed it along.
