MSErs who want to claw a little back from the dark behemoth that is Tesco.
Tesco employees who want to defend the company that they love.
Whose right? Only one way to find out.....Blitzkreig Bob says Hi to those checking his validity!0 -

Tesco are by far the worst, I dont ever remember being overcharged at all in Aldi or Lidl and I shop there almost as much as I shop at Tescos.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

What, all meet behind the bike sheds after school tomorrow ? :rotfl:0 -
You're right - it's an invitation to treat - BUT on the other side of the coin, the following factors land Tesco deeply in the brown stuff:
1. The "double the difference" policy, as displayed in every store, is also contractual and binding under s14 of the Trade Descriptions Act (and, notably, its wording doesn't contain any caveats about "genuine customers only" :rotfl: )
2. It's a criminal offence under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 for a trader to display misleading pricing indications
3. It's also an offence under the new EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive which came into force in the UK in May 2008 - see the excellent website www.isitfair.eu for more on this
The Tesco staff who have contributed to this thread would be well advised to do some homework on the above laws.
Trade Descriptions Act doesn't exist anymore......it was replaced in 2008.
and on a separate note....how many of you would've bothered with this offer if the "mistake" (genuine or not) hadn't been pointed out on here??Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! So if someone gets overcharged on something they should..
A, Keep quiet for fear of getting someone into trouble? So the mistake goes unoticed and hundreds of other people get overcharged?
Or
B, They point it out, get rewarded for doing so (double the difference) and the person that made the mistake get a slapped wrist?
I'd go with B every time
My only problem is that its not the right wrists being slapped.
I love to save money, I love to get a bargain thats why Ive joined MSE but it just always seems like a viscous witch hunt against Tesco (IMO)
VoucherMan I dont understand why youve directed me to that thread? SO Tesco increases prices?? Yes, so do Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons
Jennie, sorry to hear your store aint a nice place to work, maybe you should ask for a transfer
And dont you want to look after your vested interests? Every £ of profit Tesco makes we get more shares0 -
I am a stock control manager for a Scottish store, thats about as much as I will tell you. Its more of an annoyance when people think they can take advantage of obvious mistakes. Yes everyone will scream at me "how am I supposed to know," but it wouldn't wash with me, if a customer was pretty genuine then in the interests of customer service I'd allow them a bottle, but picking up a £15 bottle is a bit extreme.
And for Bumble, no I'm not a glorified shelf stacker, stock control managers are actually the people who order the stock and try to make sure that the products are available in store, so my job is actually more office based, however that said, I'm not scared of going to fill a shelf.
what you need to understand is that IT ISN'T YOUR WINE!!! you work for Tesco, you are not giving anyone anything! Tesco will not be eternally greatfull to you, they couldn't care less about you, manager or no manager!
it dosn't matter how much sucking up you do for them, in the long run, you miss a shift or two, or make a mistake or two, and its bye bye mr manager!i keep losing weight, but it just keeps on finding me!!!!!!:D0 -
Errr, so, did anyone get 'Any bottle of wine?'2 angels in heaven :A0
-
To get back on topic - it would be nice to know what wines are actually in the offer (and which finest meals) if anyone knows?
What wines and what meals.

Oh my Tesco misprices is back with a vengeance! what a great way to start the New Year - who needs TV?
Great spot OP and some really interesting posts on this thread. I will certainly be looking out for this one tomorrow and I don't feel at all guilty about it. DtD exists for a myriad of reasons and from my point of view any organisation that makes the profit Tesco do can afford it.
Tesco do exploit their staff and bully and intimidate their suppliers. Tesco are not an Ethical or Moral Company.
As has been pointed out here Tesco workers, it is not your money don't take it so personally. We probably pay more attention to you here than anyone at Tesco does. Of course mistakes are made and long may you continue to be human :T .0 -
Essentially it is the staff's money as around 150,000 of the 220,000 staff in the UK are shareholders, in the word's of Tesco, Every Little Helps.0
