My 'meal deal' was quite confusing. apparently none of the items I chose were part of the deal, although I had picked some of them from the indicated shelves!!! The offer has changed, I was told, but last weeks items were still there, with all the signs, on the display. none of this weeks items were yet available.
I voiced my displeasure, as in my view, it was a con to anyone who thought they were getting the 'meal deal' as there was no way of actually getting the deal, without the products being available, I think it wrong to keep the display KNOWING there is no such offer, and no substitions being made.. It was pointed out both to customer service and the diary manager, and the signs are still there, without the new products, so therefore no offer for anyone wishing to indulge in a T's finest meal deal tonight.

I am absolutely appalled that despite having two conversations, there was no attempt to remove the signage, or indicate they were out of stock of of all the elements, so thereforr the deal was invalid.

    Rant over.
Will have to wear wig next time..........

Tesco just cant get it right my DH went to buy a meal deal, grabbed a main, a side, bottle of wine and couldnt find any dessert he was expecting to ditch the dessert and still get the remainder for £9 he couldnt be bothered after choosing a meal to put it all back. He came back to the car and I checked the receipt he'd got charged £10.26 so I went back to find a dessert, CS told me they have sold out so they refunded me DTD and gave me a promise voucher for a dessert next time.

Behind me were another couple who had done the same. The staff were saying they were not happy to deal with this issue all night and they were going to try and get the offer taken down.
  • This offer appeared in my tesco's today. There was no detailed explanation as to which products it included, except that they should be from the Finest range. I selected a main meal, side, dessert and a 8.99 bottle of Finest Chardonnay. I was charged 17 pounds instead of 9. Went to customer service who happily handed me 16 pound DTD. Bargain!:j
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”:D
  • im sue only about 3 people on here have managed to grab a more expensive bottle..what the arguing is for i dont know.
i have a morbid urge to to keep coming back on:rotfl:

How would you get round this one? it is not a missprice, but a clearly worded advert,I would have thought you were legally bound to honour the sign.

Though this offer is badly worded I'm afraid you can't actually insist on any bottle as a right.

The sign showing the offer actually isn't a a contract it is an advert which in law in an 'invitation to treat'. The offer to form the contract only begins when you take your goods to the checkout and you become the offeror not the offeree. Hence you could offer to buy each item for a penny at stage. They would of course refuse! But it also means because their sign does not carry with it the status of offeror, they as the offeree have the right to accept or refuse your offer/intention to form a contract on your terms in this case wanting the deal including a £15 bottle of wine.

If I was the manager I would have given the bottle as a customer service issue and quickly amended the sign. Though I do have some sympathy for the manager in the post. It is his/her job to ensure profits are maximised and to know the law. Hence he/she would have known the customer couldn't insist on the wine but no doubt they get (along with customers who make genuine errors) people trying it on all the time which must be a nightmare.

But your neither, I've read back through your posts, your quite an aggressive and abusive poster at times and by no means pleasant. The only funny thing about your posts is your apparent inability to comprehend sarcasm. Your finest faux pas being to brandish your thanks count as a weapon against someone with 7 times as many thanks as yourself in only twice as many posts like it makes a blind bit of difference anyway.

    For more chuckles you might want to check out the post's of Dervish at a certain Doctor Who website which will remain nameless - he's quite a notorious troll over there. You don't think by any chance it could possibly be the same person do you;

  • I was also refused a bottle at £6.99 which was stacked near the meal deals.

I do think Tescos thinks and acts as if it is above the law.I was made to feel like a criminel .
  • I had a dispute with Tesco about mis advertising - contacted my local trading standards - they made 2 store visits and told tescos to take the incorrect advertising down - Tesco's didn't and when I went back to Trading Standards - they actually said that they didn't have the money to take Tescos to court - so the advertising stayed!!!!!!!!
So when you ask are tesco above the law - probably is the answer
    Titch :)
  • Not sure where to post this but I am sooooooooo angry.
Tesco`s have meal deal in exactly same place, same shelves but with no label (not unusual) - THERE IS NO MEAL DEAL and they have to leave the usual meal deal products on the shelves BECAUSE THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE TO STORE THEM! WHAT? I then had to queue for 20 mins at help desk to get my money refunded.

I am a stock control manager for a Scottish store, thats about as much as I will tell you. Its more of an annoyance when people think they can take advantage of obvious mistakes. Yes everyone will scream at me "how am I supposed to know," but it wouldn't wash with me, if a customer was pretty genuine then in the interests of customer service I'd allow them a bottle, but picking up a £15 bottle is a bit extreme.

And for Bumble, no I'm not a glorified shelf stacker, stock control managers are actually the people who order the stock and try to make sure that the products are available in store, so my job is actually more office based, however that said, I'm not scared of going to fill a shelf.
no i dont think it is a bit extreme....if it says any bottle of wine then thats any bottle of wine, regardless of price!! maybe the sign should read "any bottle of wine up to the value of 5 pounds"
