I went into Tesco today for the 5 for 40p energysaving lightbulbs offer, picked up some white seedless grapes (on offer) while I was there - got home and saw I was charged for red seedless grapes (not on offer and twice the price). Muppets!

Yes, perhaps I should have checked the till slip at the till but there was a massive queue behind me and in any case I didn't get a receipt at first. When I asked for it he said "oh sorry" and opened the machine to fish it out as it had been mangled inside the machine. It was only when I got home and checked it that I saw the mistake. Funny how these supermarket till errors almost always work out in their favour!

"Tesco is far too big to be dismissed as an interesting exception. Its sales in the UK alone (and it has big overseas operations) are over £40bn."

"Tesco is as big as Sainsbury and Asda combined. "

With UK sales of over 40 billion pounds, I won't be feeling too sorry for them when one of their mistakes ends up costing them money for a change! :D
It also begs the question, how much of the £40 billion was obtained through dishonest/fraudulent/dishonest/deceptive/dishonest means?

If the only way a customer is meant to identify what is and isn't in this deal is by means of a colour code, then presumably Tesco is in breach of some disability rights act because colour blind people could be taken advantage of? ;)
how is this customer in the right, yes they had been overcharged but is that really the right was of going about it, no!
The customer is in the right because Tesco is in the wrong, yet insists that it's only 11p so no need to fuss.

Assume Tesco is making 11p overcharge on every carton of juice, say 20 cartons per store per day (minimum), times 1500 stores (just the bigger ones, excluding One Stop) then I make this:
0.11x20x1,500 = £3,300 overcharge (i.e. theft) PER DAY!!! And that is on ONE overcharge for ONE product line.
Imagine what would happen to someone if they came up with a scam to cream 11p per day off people's bank accounts - they would get banged up for years, but Boots_with_fur thinks that such behaviour will be fine.
Also just seen on the news that Tesco are planning to create 10,000 new jobs...
I'm planning on retiring to the Caribbean with a 6" blonde russian model, just as soon as I get some money and a model :) Easy for the news to announce they have plans for extra jobs, but those "plans" were certainly not mentioned in Tescos Christmas Trading statement that came out yesterday. Are you sure that number wasn't their overseas growth plans?

Forget their £47,000,000,000 turnover. The key number is their £2,800,000,000 annual profit that is more interesting - they make £88 PROFIT PER SECOND!!! And Boots thinks it's unreasonable to complain when they rip you off and try to worm out of their own customer promise!!

There's nothing worse than a fvcking informed customer get a life why don't you. ;) Surely you have better things to do than question the mighty Tesco?

  • Apparently it seems that people posting re my juice point do not understand my point, personal abuse was hurled at a member of CSD without her even saying no to the DTD, now I don't know what morals, or lack of morals some of you seem to have but I think this is very wrong! What right do they have to shout verbal abuse at someone like they were a target of this member of staff? None at all in my eyes!

The colour stripping goes along the shelf edge, and they are different colours each reading different words...As for whoever it was that mentioned people being colour blind, I understand that that was sarcasm but come on!

I actually think that Jane had a relevant point and you shot her down because it wasn't the concensus view, so she used the DTD policy, she mentioned that she bought two gifts and was overcharged and received £12 back from Tesco, how is this greed, the SEL said £2 and she was overcharged, it was an error of the till system, if she had of gone back round and cleared the shelves of these gift sets and claimed the DTD again then yes this is greed.

I understand that a lot of people do rely on Tesco bargains to get by and that is fair enough, but as with everyone nobody has the right to be rude to people without being provoked which is why I orginally posted due to the quite frankly disgusting abuse people were giving to GC19a because he didn't join in with the consensus view of grab your coats and go hurl abuse at CSD staff over a bottle of wine and a misprint! In my opinion there always seems to be bargains and glitches going on and there are always the greedy people that take it too far and end up getting these things stopped, after all Tesco stopped R&R for a reason!

You think she has a relevant point purely because it's one that matches your view.

In the same respect as what you said about the label saying one price, and being charged another; the same could be said for the sign saying ANY bottle of wine but then this not being the case when it comes to going through the till. I don't see how you can differentiate between the 2 instances.

You also mention previously that if the till didn't allow the wine as part of the offer then this was obviously because it wasn't part of the offer and there was no way it could be wrong or a glitch, but you have proved yourself to be incorrect on this point too as on the DTD you do agree with, the till said the item being paid for was £8, but the label on the shelf said £2; so surely by your logic, plain Jane over there should have just paid the £8 and NOT claimed the DTD from customer service?

  • I didn't actually hurl abuse; I never do. I am a lady with more than a modicum of education and self restraint, and being nice USUALLY gets you further (not in my case at Tesco that day).

A model what??? The mind boggles as to what kind of model comes in six inch heights/lengths....;)

  • I have decided to write to Tesco head office about a fair few things; I may also make them aware of what happens both here on Facebook (if they're not already aware)...And no, I am not a persistent letter-writer; I have written to someone once before, when I ended up physically hurt. I just want an apology, and an acknowledgement of their error.
