I'm not trying to make a living out of Tesco mistakes. You have tried to use the information on this thread to take advantage. It is really poor form and impacts on the rest of us in terms of prices and 'loyalty, and is a very negative and unattractive trait.
My apologies for claiming a DTD pet. Dry your eyes.
you really are bundle of fun, aren't you janey...0 -
Anyone know for sure what Trading Standards view of this is ?
For what I can gather, the sign was not clear, may be a tad misleading.Anyone running a retail outlet must surely display CLEAR signs.I am sure if they display misleading information, this is a criminal offence ? I'm no expert in these matters, but as a customer of Tescos at times,it would be in their interest to treat customers with more respect, and honour any mistakes .
Surely Tesco bigwigs read this thread at times,it must be in their interest to act on mistakes fast.Given the time it takes to post these mispriced items/similar token, coupon errors, they should honour all these until they rectify them.At the end of the day,it adds up to a one sided match, and if any of you score against the other side, then you deserve just rewards !"Do not let what you can't do interfere with what you can do."0 -

Oh yes, I can see it now, the country shouldnt worry about all the redundancies happening as you obviously seem to think people can make a living out of getting cheap wine and ready meals at Tescos?
Sadly that is not the case, if it were I would have handed my notice in long long ago I can assure you.
I did alright when it was R&R, I got myself lots of nice stuff and gave lots of it away at Christmas and yes, I even sold a few bits of it, but I never made enough to call "a living"
You are quite right about it having an impact on you price wise too, having people like us pointing out these errors and fighting for them stops the "average Joe" getting stitched up by them leaving the misleading signs up.
Personally I see it as anyone that asks for a DtD is doing a public service!
Someone keeps bringing up the example of the fruit juice. Ok they were overcharged by 11p, but how many hundreds of thousands of customers were also overcharged but didnt notice?
Tesco would have a record of anyone that bought these if they used a clubcard and could contact them to say sorry and refund them, do they? NO they dont, they happily overcharge many thousands of customers on a daily basis on general items and rely on people that are too thick or lazy to kick up a fuss about it.
Yes I do go out to take advantage of their mistakes just the same as they take advantage of their customers. I also sleep soundly at night over it.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Abuse your customer base at your peril.
"The retail giant was the poorest performer of the UK's "big four" supermarkets over the festive season, with a 2.5% rise in like-for-like sales"

Remember Tesco have roughly double the market share of Asda, and 3 times as much as Sainsburys, so 4% of 100 = 4, but 2.5% of 300 = 7.5, it is a lot easier to give a higher percentage if you are starting lower down.0 -

The signage is not misleading, the staff are misleading,ie the sign clearly states ANY bottle of wine the staff refuse to honour the deal, the bigger issue and stronger argument is one of breach of contract,ieTesco markets the dtd policy and relies on it to attract customers, it is displayed prominently in all Tesco stores or at least the head office requires that it is displayed so, as such it becomes part of the "offer to treat" and upon exchange of goods and payment "the contract" having overcharged the customerTesco is legally bound to fulfil the terms of the contract by refunding double the difference and if they don't can be pursued through small claims court for breach and related costs, no challenge for double the difference would get to court however asTesco would capitulate prior to the event in the full knowledge they will lose and incur a substantial legal bill in so doing.
In respect of T/S if you were to make the store aware of the misleading pos and they do nothing about it and continue to deliberately overcharge customers or alter the terms of contract post agreement they would be obliged to take up the case for you but often very reluctantly, in such cases you would do better to file an on-line claim after first giving them notice of your intention to do so and when their sphincter muscles start twitching make sure they agree to pay any costs incurred in their settlementie any court fees already paid and time consumed in pursuing your rights.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Are you serious about this post? Tesco is losing customers, it's losing them to it's competitors, why do you suppose this is? 2.5% or 10% it matters not a jot, it is still just a little over 50% of their own projection whatever the numbers.
Whilst I have your attention you seem to have missed my previous two attempts to have you guestimate how many mistakes are actually made before an incorrect pos arrives on the shelf edge or display? The clue again: It's not one,. A ball park figure will do.
Another poser for you:
What percentage of Tesco's customers get overcharged on their weekly shopping? Your clue for this one: It's higher than 99% but lower than 101%Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

A bit like your entire posting history on this forum, unless of course you can look back through your post history and find a single positive one because I can't, your quite a miserable condescending and hypocritical person yourself. You are in no position to criticise based on your own performance.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Just Read the thread and i'm shocked! Its clear that tesco are in the wrong for putting a sign up which essentially lies. as for the colour thing none of the other tesco staff seemed to know about so how would a consumer?
I used to be CS operator in Co-op it was quite a large store and issues like this did happen (all too often) the correct procedure which i always took was to give the customer the product at the price stated and then go and remove the POS and inform management.
Co-op is hardly a huge competitor but if they can get such basic CS right I find it a little embarrassing and verging on incompetent that tesco do.
As for employees sticking up for tesco i just dont get why. Its a mistake yeah maybe an honest one I doubt if so some people need to go. However as soon as its pointed out its removed and thats it. The customer is right and its not hurting you personally. I get that some customers are frustrating but your the one getting paid so your the one that keeps calm and resolves the issue. :T0 -
if a customer was pretty genuine then in the interests of customer service I'd allow them a bottle, but picking up a £15 bottle is a bit extreme.
yeah, some of you disgusting money savers trying to get what they can out of a caring philanthropical organisation such as Tescos! How could you?! Have you no soul?0 -
I went into Tesco today for the 5 for 40p energysaving lightbulbs offer, picked up some white seedless grapes (on offer) while I was there - got home and saw I was charged for red seedless grapes (not on offer and twice the price). Muppets!
Yes, perhaps I should have checked the till slip at the till but there was a massive queue behind me and in any case I didn't get a receipt at first. When I asked for it he said "oh sorry" and opened the machine to fish it out as it had been mangled inside the machine. It was only when I got home and checked it that I saw the mistake. Funny how these supermarket till errors almost always work out in their favour!
"Tesco is far too big to be dismissed as an interesting exception. Its sales in the UK alone (and it has big overseas operations) are over £40bn."
"Tesco is as big as Sainsbury and Asda combined. "

With UK sales of over 40 billion pounds, I won't be feeling too sorry for them when one of their mistakes ends up costing them money for a change!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."
