Thanks for admitting you're human, you've made 2 typing errors in your last 2 posts so I presume you can understand how easy it is to make a mistake.
Why can you not accept that companies do not have to honour genuine mistakes?
Your job has nothing to do with me, its just interesting to understand whether you have high personal standards at work rather than bleating about other people.Originally Posted by shortcrust

As a Tesco manager I relish you coming into my store. It would give me some entertainment for the day.
So what you are saying is Tesco could put a big sign in the doorway saying "ANY bottle of champagne for £1" and then refuse to sell you a bottle of vintage bollinger because its not included in the offer?
I would relish to get a manager like you at CS, I would not stop until I got the wine I wanted. Trading standards would be down on you like a ton of bricks and you (and every other Tesco manager) know it.
There was no sign of this offer at all in my local store, maybe its just in extras? But if I saw that sign in my store I wouldnt leave the CS desk
until I got my wine.
Also, for those of you lucky enough to get it, dont forget you should get double the difference, not just be sold it for £9Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Pretty certain the signs in my place included a list of the applicable lines.
Nice to see you Constantine
It is just like the good old days!
Out of interest, what would your stance be on this one? (if the sign does indeed say "Any bottle of wine" with no list)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Well according to the OP, the Tesco lady said there were rules about what was in the offer but wasn't very clear. Doesn't sound defensive to me.
So, do you accept companies do not have to honour genuine mistakes?Originally Posted by shortcrust

Unfortunately the offer isn't available in my store as it is quite a small superstore, however when I've been shopping in my local extra I have noticed that there is special shelf edge stripping on some shelves where the items are kept ie- Main course, side dish etc. I'll see if I can find out and post back tomorrow.0 -
No, what I meant by that is that it is a human being who makes the POS and it is a human who puts it out. Mistakes can be made. That said however, I didn't realise how emotive a thread this would turn out to be and apologise if I've annoyed anyone. All I ask of people is remember that mistakes can happen, I've dealt with too many "customers" who demand the earth when something goes wrong.
But it takes at least one person to think of the offer, one person to inform the printers of the signage, the printer, the person who checks the signage (surely if they havent got someone to do this they should have?) and the person that puts the signs out in the shops.
If the signs make it to the point the customer sees them and wants to buy "any" bottle of wine then thats what Tesco should stick to.
I agree, mistakes do happen, however mistakes should also be picked up before putting them in front of thousands of customers. Its not like there is just one person responsible for this.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I am a stock control manager for a Scottish store, thats about as much as I will tell you. Its more of an annoyance when people think they can take advantage of obvious mistakes. Yes everyone will scream at me "how am I supposed to know," but it wouldn't wash with me, if a customer was pretty genuine then in the interests of customer service I'd allow them a bottle, but picking up a £15 bottle is a bit extreme.
And for Bumble, no I'm not a glorified shelf stacker, stock control managers are actually the people who order the stock and try to make sure that the products are available in store, so my job is actually more office based, however that said, I'm not scared of going to fill a shelf.
So you are the one that decides if a customer is worthy of a refund if overcharded? Get real, you may make it difficult for them out of some misguided loyalty but if they are smart they WILL get their dtd and wine despite the likes of you, perhaps you would like to tell me on what criteria you make the decision as to what is or isn't a "pretty genuine" customer? Is it scientificaly based?
As for a mistake, you said you were involved in stock procurement so I assume you would have some idea as to how many times this promotional material "mistake" has gone unnoticed? How many mistakes are we actually talking about before the customer is actually overcharged? I'll give you a clue: The answer is not one.
While we are at it what about the "ugly genuine" customers do they qualify or is it only the busty babes?Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
