If that is your attitude to customers then you should be reprimanded.

Its more for the fact that guy I originally quoted was spoiling for a "fight" with regards this situation.

I am a stock control manager for a Scottish store, thats about as much as I will tell you. Its more of an annoyance when people think they can take advantage of obvious mistakes. Yes everyone will scream at me "how am I supposed to know," but it wouldn't wash with me, if a customer was pretty genuine then in the interests of customer service I'd allow them a bottle, but picking up a £15 bottle is a bit extreme.

And for Bumble, no I'm not a glorified shelf stacker, stock control managers are actually the people who order the stock and try to make sure that the products are available in store, so my job is actually more office based, however that said, I'm not scared of going to fill a shelf.

Ah! So you are one of the "centralised" idiots that fails to order in extra of the stuff that is on special offer so that there is never enough to fill the normal users requirements let alone those just buying because of the offer.;)

You do know, of course, that you are the least popular jobsworths in the entire set up: not only with the customers, but also with the shop-floor staff who get sick of being moaned at about the stuff which dissapears from the shelves (despite selling well) at your whim and the failure to adequately up the order to take account of special offers, and the fact that in some stores they simply NEVER get enough of certain things in, even when not on special offer:D

Definitely one of those jobs that does not work efficiently in Tescos:D

I'll try not to take offence at being called an idiot, but no I'm not "centralised," I'm actually based in store, and I am one of those guys who you moan at for not having the stock in store. The recent big offers were done centrally and believe me we have all had a good moan at head office for getting it spectacularly wrong on those.

The nature of the business is I have to balance availability against waste. It is very difficult to order enough stock to meet customer demand without having too much, causing waste. I try my best and believe me I keep plenty of notes as I try to improve it the next time the promotion comes around.

If you are ever unhappy about availability instore, call Dundee customer services 0800505555, they will take down all the details and then it will be fed back to the relevant people whether it be store or the buyers.

& why shouldn't he? if it was your company that had made a (genuine?) mistake, would you happily pay the cost?

What's your line of employment me4bargains?
My line of employment is none of your business but if I did work in retail (and I have in the past) I would adopt the policy that the customer is aways right because in this case they must certainly are.
One thing that irks me are stupid jobsworths.

The customer isn't always right though. I had one customer go completely mental at me because I didn't show her where something was because a shelf had just collapsed and I stopped to fix it before I could show her where the product she wanted was. In my book safety come before customer service, but that said, I do know how to look after a customer and help them and will 99% try to get them the outcome that they are looking for.

    just like you are?

Why are you so shy about your line of employment? Afraid you've never made a mistake?

What's the difference between a jobsworth and a customer who knows they're right but in fact don't actually know whether retail companies are allowed to make genuine mistakes?

I'm not shy, I just don't see what my job has to do with you that's all.
I'm not afraid that I have never made a mistake, of course I have, so stop being inane.
What t I did say was in this case the customer is right.
The offer says any wine so any wine it should be whether it be £5 or £20.
Having stroppy managers from Tesco posting reactionary posts doesn't do the company any favours.
