Hi Smoky - good to hear from you. You're doing so well, I take my hat off to you. Good luck with WW3!
Mummysaver - you're so right. I try not to think of the money-handling and other things that go on when we need to get food, but it was the fact that it was so 'in my face' IYKWIM'! She blew her nose noisily and for what seemed like ages, then she carried on fiddling with her nose afterwards. My family would tell you, I have a 'thing' about other people's noses! Rant over but I shall be checking that at least hand wipes are at the tills from now on, and complaining if they aren't! I know lots of people feel obliged to go to work even if they are ill - you face the dilemma of taking time off and having people think you're either pulling a fast one, or moaning that you've left them with too much work, or turning up with some raging illness and being criticised for spreading germs! You can't win with this one but people can take a bit more care.
Anyway, I've been out - it's freezing cold but quite bright. I'm so glad it's not windy.
I'm going to do some baking now, then prep the veggies for tonight's dinner and tomorrow's, but first I'm putting the kettle on again!

Morning all,
Very cold here today it is - 4.5 at the moment, and it got down to -6.5 during the night  , (n9eav my OH has a pocket weather station, which he left outside,) but it looks soooo pretty outside, OH and I will go for a walk later, and take some photos its really beautiful. We will take a picnic, and a flask of coffee, its so nice to stop and have a warm coffee.
DD is off to town with her friend, I have told her she can only go if she wraps herself up warm, we shall see what she comes down dressed in  .
Got dd's dark uniform in the wm, think will hang it out, although its cold its bright and it will smell fresh, got OH work stuff to go in next, I always wash it seperatly as it gets mucky.
Talking of OH, does anyone know where I can get fingerless gloves ? we have tried everywhere, and managed to get him some with a mitten flap over, iykwim, but the flap gets in his way when working, yesterday he was on top of the south downs working on a barn roof and it did not get above - 3 all day, his soup that he took to work was not frozen when it left here, but has frozen by the time he went to heat it for lunch  , his spirit level froze to his hand, he managed to last untill 4, but then came home frozen to the bone, Luckily I had just got out of a hot bath, so he jumped right in, poor man.
OS today will consist of a quick tidy and hoover round, washing hung out, and that will probably be it
not sure what is for tea, but I always do something quick on a saturday.
Crazychick, well done for helping out your friend, keep yourselves safe xx
Squigly, the court case has gone onto next week, looks like Tues now, lets hope that means they are doing a thorough job xx
Sistercas, the crumpets look lovely, I have printed the recipe, thanks :T
Cranky, that is such a sad story about your dear mum, hugs to you xx
Smoky, nice to see you posting xx
Aussie, where are you ?? hope Benny is ok xx
Well better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Cranky - what a sad story about your mum, what a dreadful way to end her life, sadly it's all too common in violent relationships. I used to work in a women's refuge, and the stories never ever ceased to amaze me. It is awful when you want to help but you can't. Makes me all the happier when I hear about people like Emma's friend, who has had the strength and courage to leave.
cas - thank you so much for trying the recipe, and for the pics, they are fabulous! In fact, kids dad has just arrived to take dd3 swimming, he's not being mean just taking her, the others think it's too cold, anyhoo, he has offered to get me some egg rings so I can make some! Think he's expecting to be fed too lol!
Vicky - I've just caught up and read your post, I'm so sorry that it wasn't better news for your mum, my thoughts and prayers are with you all for the future.
Smoky - good luck with the tidying! My dd2 and dd3's room was so awful it is taking ages to sort out! I give them a small area to do each day, and so far they have cleaned off the window sill, the chests of drawers and the main part of the floor, they still need to to under the beds, and down the sides and back of the beds, and the spare bed which is covered in stuff, and underneath it too! At least it doesn't have a funny smell in there anymore lol! I'm waiting to decorate it, and now I can get in I can see that the light fixing needs replacing and the curtain rail needs to go back up, and the ladder from the bunk beds has vanished, not to mention that the chests of drawers are wonky and two drawers are missing their fronts! I need a flylady SWAT team I think! Still it all has to be completed by half term as my friend and her children are staying for a week, they'll have dd1's room and she'll be in with her sisters, and she won't go in there unless it's sorted out!
Well, kids have all been fed brekkie, and the girls ran the dog up the road, literally ran to keep warm lol! Poor dog isn't looking pleased about having been made to go out in the cold or run!
Girls have been browsing through my Cath Kidson book, and are all enthusiastic to get making, so will need to sort out some scraps for them and pick up some felt during the week, it'll be nice teaching them how to sew different stitches - ha, I think that now, the reality will be I shall be tearing my hair out next weekend and have a dozen half finished things to complete for them!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Afternoon All
Hello Smokey :hello:
Sistercas - those crumpets look amazing.
Late posting today as OH & myself have cleaned the house from top to bottom, I also gave the shower room a spring clean which I hate doing but its lovely now its done.
Just had a couple of bacon rolls and having a coffee now then will go and put bedding on the beds (another hated job)
Had an extremely bad day yesterday and got virtually no paperwork done, one of our day drivers had a theft from his van from central london, its about the 4th this year - and weve had to pull the run so he hasnt any work at the moment. Its not his fault but we cant afford to do it anymore - the police say the stealing has just got out of control. There has been 3 break ins in our village lately - its getting really scary now.
Am feeling positive though (dont know why) and as one door shuts another opens.
OS today - hmmnn let me think, did use loads of vinegar and stardrops during the house clean. Am clearing the washing basket today and am as always using half the amount of washing powder. Not sure if will be an os dinner thought as Ddad is coming over to stay. Mind you reading your posts made me think its Sunday - so many roasts today.
Hope you all have a great Saturday.

morning (....ooops, it's afternoon now) all! I've had a bit of a rough night so apologies if not too coherent. I'm sitting in my pj's at moment and it's looking to be something after 2pm beore i will venture back upstairs to have a bath and get dressed. My son is at his dad's and me and my daughter are slobbin' out!

The plan for the day is to organise my portfolio of work for the end of my college course on Monday, that's the most important thing to do today. Then i'm going to do some crafting, i have quite a few cards to make, 'thank you' cards, 'wedding cards' and 'thinking of you' cards too. I've simply got to use up some of my craft stuff. i bought way too much over the past few years and feel guilty for doing so because a lot of it i really paid over the odds for from QVC etc. Those craft shows used to be something of an addiction for me, but now i can't access QVC though my telly i have saved a fortune!
I also want to write out a proper mealplan for the week. I did a big online shop this week and want to be sure to get organised with it because what usually happens is i get lazy about it and then things go off that should have been eaten earlier in the week and i want to avoid food waste.
So that's todays plan. I am also wanting today to be a no spend day so maybe i will just stay in my jammies after all.....and then i can't go out
