  • Morning all
I had to get up early this morning as DS is taking my car to work to put new tyres on it. It shouldn't be too expensive as he's passing on his discount, what a treasure.
No other plans for today as without the car we can't get anywhere.
Hugs to Smokey, Mrs Mix, PP & Jayward.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

  • Morning all,
Well it's freezing here in West Yorkshire. Have been up since 7ish with DS, but can't complain as he let me lie in til half 10 yesterday :D . Thursday was his 1st birthday and I think he must have been exhausted with such a busy day.
Well today we're going to the photographers to choose the wedding photo's we want for our album. We can choose 35 - If we want any more we can pay for them seperately (DH's mum paid for the photo's as a wedding present). I'm really excited, I hope they're nice. I have a tendancy to close my eyes on photo's
Whilst we're over to see the photographer we're going to go to the park with DS and the dog for a long walk. Then we'll nip and see my mum and dad as we have more wedding photo's to see (ones that BIL took).
We're having a little party for DS tomorrow, so need to give the house a really good clean today, and make sure it looks presentable for our guests. I was going to make a cake, but chickened out and bought one
Hope you all have a good day x

    Morning all,
rubbish night sleep, tossing and turning, nightmares and weird dreams.

DD woke at 5:45 so not too bad, but I still feel like I haven't been to bed. Work today, work from home so at least I don't have to go anywhere.

Wrote my meal plan and totted up what we need to buy, comes to £22 so it's not too bad, it's the cat food and cat litter that just always adds a £5 - £7...

I made Gnocchi yesterday again, they are just so fab and with the cheap potatoes from Aldi they are also very, very OS. Portion per person including tomato sauce comes to about 45p...

OK, better go and get another cup of coffee!

Hi hope you don't mine me asking but what recipe do you use?? Have never made them before and usually buy them ready made. I searched on MSE and found Caterina's recipe so will prob give that a go unless you have another recommendation thanks xxx

    Sorry good morning everyone!

I just wanted to ask about the gnocchi recipe whilst reading through the thread so I didn't forget!!

Hope everyone is ok today, I'm glad it's the weekend tho! Ds wet the bed but luckily not until about 7 am so I got up and striped it all and he went in the shower so the WM is on with another load waiting! Lucky DH and DD are still in bed but once I got up I was awake and I did go to bed early last night (about 10.15) so prob didn't need to sleep in anymore!

Well today I have discussed with the whole family and we are all going to help tidy up the pigsty ie home!! There is still boxes and bits lying about from Christmas as I have been back at work since kids returned to school and not had a day to sort it all out! So I am determined downstairs will return to normal being cleared, tidied and cleaned today (prior to friends visiting at 3pm too!) then boxes can go to loft and we will work on the upstairs too!!

As a reward we're going to see space chimps at the local odeon, lots of cinemas do 'kids clubs' or similar and this one is pay £2.50 for a child and an adult goes free so only £5 for the 4 of us. Empire cinemas do it too and it's £1 per person. We don't often go and rarely pay full price as usually over £20 which I think is a lot!

Anyway, roast chicken today for dinner with all the trimmings, then stock made in sc and will use that for risotto tom, tho just remembered don't think I bought any onions whoops!

    Have great days all xxx
  • Morning all,

phew is it the weekend?! The week flew past (but then I knew it would, with the time of year & the hospitals being full to overflowing & needing to get people discharged....)

N9eav, the pork chops sound lovely - I have done something similar in the past but once they're browned (usually cook the onion & apple in with them) I add cider to the pan & then reduce it for about 15 mins, then stir in some cream just before serving. I am going to try your version as creme fraiche is lower fat :)
Mioliere - eugh... loll!!! Yes, I would write too - surely she should have undergone some basic food hygiene training? But I think antibac wipes so she can just wipe her hands afterwards would help a bit.
Halight, glad the twins are doing so well :)

Edit: Furrypig, you just reminded me I need to cook a chicken so I can strip all the meat off - that will be sandwich fillings in some form for the week to come...

Another one here who's been awake since around 5.30am (thanks to cats knocking crockery off kitchen worktop & scaring the living daylights out of me!)
Had supper last night of spaghetti & meatballs ready-meals - as they were YS down to 20p each I figured they were a bargain :) . Also got a couple of packs of 2 chicken kievs down to 40p each. So they will be supper today, with mash, sweetcorn & broccoli. I'm making carrot soup for lunch too.
Been so good this week with not eating any cake, biscuits or chocolate. Taken a healthy packed lunch to work every day too - according to the scales this morning I've lost 3lbs this week, so am feeling motivated to be good now.

Struggling to keep up with the threads this week, but redruby don't think you've heard anything yet? (((((((hugs))))))) to all those going through tough times or feeling poorly (justpeyton - caught a couple of your posts, they are lovely :)

Back later maybe - have a good day all.

    Good morning everyone :D

There seems to have been quite a few of us who were awake at 3 am this morning! I just settled down to read for a while until I became sleepy again.

I've no real OS plans for today - my batch packed-lunch making and baking are on the agenda for tomorrow. A bit of tidying up will take place today, along with putting the washing machine on and mopping the floors.

I'm just having a half hour meander on OS before I start the day :D
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

    Morning

I have been up since about 7am -I have cleaned the kitchen, had a cuppa and surfed the net.

We went on a big shop last Saturday so have loads of stuff in the freezer. I have just got 950g pack of mince out of there and now wondering what to make. My initial thoughts is a huge pile of bolognaise for spagetti but could get bored by day 3! Anyone have any other ideas?

Next on the list is Clothes Washing

    Morning All!

Frost again here today but we're nice & warm inside. Have only just woke up amazingly. DH worked last night & I don't usually sleep very well when he's not there, but I sure did last night, so did the kids!

Doing sandwiches for DH & DS2 as their going to a football match sponsored by our local Lion's group - dh is a member. They will need hot flasks too in this! Going into our town this afternoon with my friend to get some new boots, mine are falling apart now & I've seen some on offer at 10 pounds. After that I'm hoping to get an hour maybe reading or cross stitching.

Dinner tonight is Spaghetti Bolognese which I made yesterday & left in the fridge to gather flavour.

Hope everyone has a good OS day. Hugs & thoughts to those that need them & keep warm folks!

    Louise xx
