I would avoid those companies like the plague! At least the first two; it USED to be excellent by all accounts but is the opposite now. The second expects to be sued or won't pay usually - and only gives 14 days from bill date to claim. Stick with cpw companies - they are (like all companies) getting a lot worse, but at least they won't try fraudulant and abysmal tactics to avoid paying. Not such good deals, either - but you must have decent handsets by now so it's worth the saving in risk.

Thanks mushhh, I'm currently with and about to end with Mobileshop after consistently having to issue threats to get my cashback, they NEVER pay within T&C's, but to be fair, they have always paid. I have since took out a contract with Coolnewmobile, who are trading abysmally and have actually amended T&C's AFTER my original contact started - hoping Trading Standards can sort this one out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
The other two seem as iffy as all the rest out there regarding trying to catch out customers, so I will avoid them, but thanks for your imput, it's much appreciated.
What I now personally would like is an automatic cashback deal, say maybe a 10/12 month free deal but with a charge for automatic cashback, maybe £10 a time, instead of sendng back bills etc. Probably not available, but come on you suppliers, come up with more customer friendly deals and charge for doing it - all will benefit.

Mobileshop have also done this as well. When I took out my contracts with them I was supposed to get my cashbacks within 45 days of them receiving my bills however a couple of months in and they changed that to ' We will aim to process all payments 60 days after the expiry date of your voucher' and of course we all know that you are more likely to be waiting 90 days or even much longer.

I know what you mean. I only allow Mobileshop to be 1 day late as per original contract before issuing a final demand.
Fingers crossed, it has worked so far.

Got my new deal with e2save. Special thanks to mobilejunkie for all the help, much appreciated for going out of your way.
The terms are very similar to Coolnewmobiles old terms, but astonishingly, no mention of them being able to ghange the original T&C's, which was the main clinching factor for going with them.
I was about to take out another couple of deals with Coolnewmobile and was waiting to see how my first claim went. So far they have been abysmal, so their loss is e2save's gain.
Hopefully e2save will give a better service and can be trusted, in MY experience, Coolnewmobile can't.

Thanks again to mobilejunkie, who has given excellent service - there's no chance of you setting up your own cashback phone business is there ???? lol

It could be considered the other way around as you are going to cost e2save money this year rather than Coolnewmobile...

You should be aware that if the original contract stated that they would pay within 45 days, and subsequently they do not, then they are effectively in breach of the contract and you could demand the monies. The whole point about making a contract is to create a legal instrument by which both parties agree to abide. You can't go chopping and changing the terms willy nilly in the middle of the contract just because something in the original contract does not suit. These companies are truly horrendous in their dealings with people and they ought to feel the clout of the regulatory authorities for their out and out flouting of the law.

I don't know how these things actually work, but I don't think they would offer these deals if they weren't making a profit. I can't believe they only make a profit from not paying the due cashbacks, but who knows???

Maybe an "insider" can fully explain.

That's what I thought, but try telling that to Coolnewmobile and they will state otherwise. Hope they are wrong and Trading Standards can "Do" them.

In the old pre digital days they would offer these contracts and people wouldn't check their diaries and forget to reclaim; now many use computers that automatically remind them; this increases the number of those that remember to claim...

From speaking with cashback companies, they do make a loss on these contracts but I believe that the biggest loser is the network who pay most of the money back in commission; the company does make a loss though.

It's just a game of numbers, those that forget finance those that don't, but the figures are moving out of favour for the cashback companies, hence (IMHO), the problems we all have in getting our money back.

For my last contract that ended with The Mobile Outlet, I rang CPW (as the contract was via them) in month 11 to cancel it; they retained me on a pay '1 month for 12' basis which I went for as I have just had enough of the risk of the cashback companies doing a 'themobs' and disappearing with all my cashback (I figure that CPW is larger and should therefore take the hit easier).

In speaking with the CPW chap, I asked him why he was offering me a contract that they would lose money on, he responded that it was a strategic plan to retain customer numbers and they would lose over £100 on the deal but have me as a customer (probably hoping I would forget to claim and/or buy bolt-ons, etc.).

Whatever the details, the loss of a customer that remembers to claim their cashback successfully reduces the cost to the company, something that makes me chuckle to myself when I read all the posts of 'company X has lost my valued custom...' :)
