  • BA have a sale on at the moment to New York. Many dates in August, £430 rtn each.
Seems to be about the ballpark figure.
Sites like https://www.kayak.com and https://www.skyscanner.com are good.

Flight prices are much to do with supply and demand; we are in term time with a weak pound; therefore people aren't flying as much; prices are dropping and many special offers.

Once it gets to the summer holidays prices will go back up unless there is a big shortage of bookings, which is doubtful to the more popular places.

could be the best price from london i think unless you are prepared to wait till about middle of may could be £30/40 quid cheaper but again £80/90 dearer. Are you staying with family ?? If not and the wedding isnt in manhattan Thomas cook had some good deals inc hotels for the summer staying in NJ queens etc not very good for city breakers who want NYC but may suit you staying close to family

    Really stupid question alert.

If anyone knows, great. If not I'll ring them tomorrow.

When you book online with Carmel for a towncar from EWR to Manhattan, there is a choice of 3 options for where the pickup will be:

    Outside
    Inside ($35)
    International

So I am not paying an extra $35 for inside ;) but do I select "Outside" which was my first assumption, or do I go with "International" as I am flying from the UK. Anyone know?

Also, how will they know which terminal I will be flying into? I know they have the airline and the plane - will they simply use that to know. I am with Continental who are based in Terminal C but the last couple of times I've gone with them they have flown into B.

Final questions (honest!) I have to give an approx pick up time - 45 minutes from landing roughly right? I assume that I will have to phone them to confirm I am ready to be picked up when I get to the bit after arrivals - is there a freephone there?

That's it for stupid questions :)

choose international, as domestic and international are sometimes different terminals.. you give them the flight info, so they look it all up..

i normally give my pick up time an hour after the plane lands, as for a phone, i think they have a 1-800 number which is a freefone number, just find a payphone and use it, or you can use your mobile phone!

I've just purchased a New York Pass (http://www.newyorkpass.com/). They have a discount on until the 26th March. Depends what you are interested in but there are loads of museums etc included on this deal.
Matched betting proceeds so far: £505.00

Thanks for the info. The wedding isn't actually in New York, we'll just be flying to and from there and spending a few days in the city. Family are in Scranton, PA and we'll be getting the Greyhound there.
  • Just read the above posts on Carmel Cars. I go to NY on tues and was just gonna jump in a cab. Last time I went I got a bus which was a nightmare as it took forever although it was cheaper - this time I just wanna get there asap. Look as if Carmel Cars is same cost as a cab - which is better option? Bit worried about booking the car and then being late/early etc, would it be easier just to get a cab when I am there. Also, if you book Carmel do you pay there and then presumably? Finally (phew) any discount codes for Carmel?? Thanks everyone
