    Hi everyone

Hope someone help me as as i need to book my hotel urgently as
we are leaving in 10 days. We managed to get a great deal on direct return flights with Continental for £239 return from Belfast.

Now to hotels- there are not many left that suit - 3 adults (it includes my17 year old son). I don't mind too much which area we stay in as its safe and the hotel is clean and pleasant.

Ok, after extensive searching the possibility hotes are as follows:

    The Cosmopolitan. £628
    Helmsley Midddletowne $932
    The Marcel Gramercy $949
    The Eidson $990
    Radio City Apartments£1124
    the Intercontinental £905

Any advice tips on which one to choose please.

    Many thanks in advance :T

Its quite easy to make a good guess on Hotwire hotels, you can get a room for around $99 a night...very cheap, usually 3* or above. Worth a look.

Sorry, the dates are: depart 7th April 09 and leave 12th April 09. I have now provisionally booked The Cosmopolitan for £628 for the 3 of us in 1 room. It has very good reviews..

    Many thanks :A :A

cosmo is a great hotel, and you'll love your stay, nice quiet village area down in TriBeCa, only 12 mins on the subway away from Times Square, 8 minutes to Macy's...

Just read the above posts on Carmel Cars. I go to NY on tues and was just gonna jump in a cab. Last time I went I got a bus which was a nightmare as it took forever although it was cheaper - this time I just wanna get there asap. Look as if Carmel Cars is same cost as a cab - which is better option? Bit worried about booking the car and then being late/early etc, would it be easier just to get a cab when I am there. Also, if you book Carmel do you pay there and then presumably? Finally (phew) any discount codes for Carmel?? Thanks everyone

i used carmel beginning of this month, and there is a little bit of waiting around when you get there, but the cars IMO are a bit cleaner than taxi's.

i posted a few pages about (look around beginning of march for a date) details on a $4 discount, which does make it cheaper than a taxi from the airport (i think it's cheaper anyway, but it makes it even cheaper!)

  • Damn I am so confused..looking to go to New York sometime in the next few months..but the whole visa situation is throwing me! I have a passport thats expired so i'll need to apply for a new one shortly..can anyone tell me the process I need to go through? I'll be flying from the UK staying for a few days...I thought maybe the visa waiver program would be acceptable, but even thats confused me now.

Many thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this!

    Hello,

Was looking for tours from NY visiting Washington, Niagara etc. and came across: http://www.gotobus.com/cs/c128/bustours/philadelphia_washingtondcandniagarafalls3_daytour.html - $165/pp.

Anybody with experience of using this tour operator?

Any other tour operator? I am looking for 3-4 days tour from NY and visiting Philadelphia, Washington + Niagara falls (US Side)...

if you have a UK passport you normally are eligible for the Visa Waiver Programme. (VWP)

once you have your new passport, you'll need to fill in an ESTA online, which will instantly tell you if you are eligible to travel under a VWP, this asks the same questions, but at least you'll be without any doubt.

there are a couple of reasons why you might not be able to travel under a VWP, one being having commited a crime of moral turpitude, but the vast majority of people can.

you also fill in a green VWP form on the plane, and a white customs form for declaration.
