don't use expedia for the Cosmopolitan hotel, check on http://www.hotelconxions.com

and i'd second the cosmo... it's not in times square, but it's 12 minutes on the subway up there. the restaurants in the area are much much better, some good bars also within stumbling distance, and also it's a villagey atmosphere, which you don't get in midtown..

Marky . any other shout outs for bars in the tribeca area? We're arriving at the Cosmo on friday for 5 nights

Have booked Tribeca grill for the first night, but was wondering which bars / cocktail bar watering holes could be suggested from your experience of the neighbourhood?

Marky is the expert and we followed his advice and did these....

Reade St Pub is really handy for late night drinks on the way back from a night out. Good food and drink Read St Beer was $4 a pint. I liked this place.
(opposite corner nr Barclays? bank corner)

Mudville 9 was a bit expensive on the beer front but Ok for a stop off on the way back or out. Draught Beer about $7. Over 99 different beers here. Not a favourite of mine.
( Right opposite small exit of hotel)

The Morgan Market Deli is the best around the area and does some very good food, breakfast especially even the local police were getting their food there.
(opposite corner nr Barclays? bank corner

The Soda shop next to the hotel does a very good breakfast as well great blueberry pancakes.
  • Hi

Off to NYC tomorrow and had previously asked Mark about online check in and he said it was easy but he actually still had to check in at Manch airport anyway. Just tried to check in online now and it says I cannot cos of the type of journey and visa requirements??????? Do you think this is normal - just panic at bit.

Dont know about Marky - but I couldnt check in online for Delta because I had Air France share code so just had to do it at the airport... cant see why its a problem - you've got ESTA right? So you'll just do visa wavier on the plane!
  • Got ESTA thing - why do I need to do the visa wavier on the plane, thought ESTA replaced all that?? I'm confused

Nope it merely tells them if you are eligible for Visa Wavier - it isnt the thing itself - you still have to do both forms (or you did in January anyway) - the green wavier and the customs form :D

I'm off to New York on Thursday next week. My passport is three years old and has the chevrons on the bottom of the page. I've also seen it being swiped at the airport on a previous trip. It has a little square on the back of the page with a bit of colour foil around the edge. I hope I'm right in thinking I have the correct type of passport.

Also, ive been into the ESTA website and filled that in and it was accepted.

Am I right in thinking I've got everything I need? cheers
