Thanks for pointing that out, I am a numpty, I am going next Saturday, not this Saturday, I put this instead of next before the Saturday, Doh! So that was why I was asking if the clocks would go forward in NYC. Sorry about the confusion. :o

in that case, no, the clocks won't go forward when you're out there..

what'll happen is when you land in NYC you'll gain 4 hours, and when you come back to the UK you'll lose 5 hours...

the USA have slightly different Daylight Savings Time, when compared to our British Summer time, 3 weeks earlier in March, and i think 2, or a few weeks later in November...

Their clocks have gone forward, so you won't have to do anything like that, it'll just be worse with the jet lag on the way back

I have done nothing BUT that for the past week, and have found some awesome deals, recieved some excellent advice...all of this I shall put to good use and make sure this holiday is the one to remember, well, I'm getting married while we're there AND seeing The Daily show (vip tickets) so I'm guessing we won't forget it in a hurry.

Hi Ninestonecreature. Can I ask where you managed to get tickets for the daily show? We are going to NYC next saturday and would love to go. I looked on the website a few months ago when we booked, but all tickets had gone, so we are on a cancellation list, so probably won't get them.

Also wanted to say thanks to everyone who posts on here, been lurking for a while now and have been to New York several times before, but managed to pick up some great tips and reccommendations. We are staying in the Millenium Hilton, Has anyone on here stayed there before? It's a little further from things than we'd have liked but minutes from the subway and I think we got a bargain for £88 per night.

    Thanks again everyone!

Milennium Hilton isn't further away from things, it's in a brilliant neighbourhood, and you can get great views if you're at one of the higher floors.

it bugs me slightly the myth that everything new york is in midtown/times square, as that is probably the most boring part, where lower manhattan, tribeca, soho, greenwich, chelsea is where everything is....

the only downside i can really think of is that it is directly opposite the freedom tower construction site... might be a bit noisy if you're at that side of the hotel

Yes I agree with you, there is much more to NY than just Times Square. Been there. Done that, but each to their own I guess. It is o/h's 1st time there, so I'll expect we'll go at least once. What I meant was, that I have read on tripadvisor that the financial district/wall street area is bit quiet on weekends, but like you say, with the subway everything else is only minutes away. I want to explore tribeca, LES more this trip which is walkable. Done the touristy stuff dozens of times.

The room is a king size corner city view, I believe we are quite high up, and have requested a room looking away from the wtc site, so hopefully won't be too noisy... but who spends a lot of time in the hotel room anyway!

I'm sorry but if its next week you go you have no chance, they're like gold dust. I was very lucky to get mine via someone who actually works at the NEP studios.
