Were going to NY 02/12 - 06/12 booked flights at a reasonable price with Virgin. However, Hotel prices are $$$$$ with no offers or special deals at that time that i can see.
Thinking of staying around Times Sq or to the east, 5th Ave, Bryant Park area.
Anyone here know of any deals/offers that are around at the moment? My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

it's probably a bit early to get a hotel at a special deal, have you looked at quikbook.com
also, why are you limiting yourself to such a small area of manhattan when everywhere is easy to get to on the subway for such a cheap price?

Will have a look at Quickbook.com, I have to say I have'nt heard of that site before.
Not really limiting ourselves to any area but when we look around we seem to be be more attracted to that area. Not really keen to use the subway, although im sure we'll use it at sometime as would rather walk from A-B think you see more of the place that way and if its like the london underground you dont see much anyway,
Right, off to have a look at quickbook. My mind tends to wander............If found please return;)

i think the NY subway is a NY experience in its own right (although ive never used it)(we have a wheelchair user in our group) The Wellington has more sales than allied carpets as does the New Yorker both living on past reputations but its clean dry and somewhere to dump your bags close by are shops and all things touristy within a 20 minute walk or about 1 mileish (mileish !!! i love the english ritten word two) If you go onto the likes of expedia or lastminute.com you will get a good idea of areas and prices then when you have more idea and narrowed the search to what when and where the fine serch for areas or named hotels . Anywhere around Manhattan IMO is local enough to enjoy all of Manhattan enjoy NYC and let us know what you have in mind. Trip advisor is a good guide to hotels:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Manhattan is about 12 miles long...
it's also about 3 miles wide.
taxis are not cheap. what can cost $15 to transport 3 people from central park to WTC, would cost $2.25 each, so that's $6.75.
You could use the bus. Slower than the other two methods, but then you see the sights...0 -
My first question is are you sure you're going to get your moneys worth from a pass?? Some of the attractions are a pay what you like, whereas the pass lists a full price! I've never really understood the thrill of rushing around to go see attractions just to get your moneys worth and missing some of the buzz of the city.
Well we were just going to get a 3 day pass so we could then have the other 3 days to just do what we wanted. When you say "pay what you like" do you mean like a donation? If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they go. :A0 -
We were in NYC two years ago and two friends we travelled with got the passes. They raced round trying to fit as much as possible in, in the time they had and I'm sure they'd tell you, they had fun!
We didn't see anywhere near as much as they did, but I think we had a great feel for the city, had walked for miles and saw all the things we wanted, including the Guggenheim (that was a 'pay what you wish donation evening) and a couple of the tours. There are plenty of vouchers out there - American's just love their vouchers- and I'm not sure all the sights that are listed are particularly worth seeing!
However, thats my point of viewWhatever you do, have a fabulous time! Its an amazing place.
