Yes... so the newyorkpass will list the "cost" as the "suggested" donation which is something like $20 for some of the museums.
So, a 3 day pass is $115, each, which is a whopping amount.
things like - New York Skyride at $35.00 are just really pointless IMO, and isn't a great attraction. Also, the Top of the Rock which they say is $20.00 you can always get a voucher to make it cheaper. Also, couple in the MOMA at $20, but what they don't tell you is that you can get a joint MOMA / TOTR ticket for $30..
You really need to look at where you want to go, exactly how much it is, if there are any promos and coupons etc.
3 days of running around just to make sure you've "spent" $115, isn't my idea of fun, you could spread out all your attractions over your 6 day stay, and probably spend less, as you won't do things, "just because they are free" kinda thing..

Mmm, I can see your point. As you suggest, i need to do some research as to what we want to see and how much it will cost us. I am not at all interested in the museums and really I only want to do about 3 or 4 things and then see what takes our fancy when we get there. I definately want to visit the zoo in central park so will have to see how much that costs also. Thanks for your advice Mark and Phillipa. If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they go. :A0

Booked and ready to go on 30th October for 7 days!
I am doing the marathon as well (I read that someone else here is doing it as well).
Staying at the Kings hotel in Brooklyn.
7 nights for 2 people for £1300 with direct flights from Manchester with Expedia.
I think thats quite a good price.....just gotta plan whats to do in the 5 days after the race, because I dont plan on doing much until I have finished, then its all systems go and enjoy without any running !!!
I have been training for this for more than 5 months , and am really looking forward to having a week off :rotfl:
I have been before back in 2001 and did mostly tourist stuff (ESB, SoL, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Twin towers, 5th Ave, some churches and museums, plus exploring elsewhere like Harlem.
Quite fancy having a good look round Brooklyn, and maybe a bit of New Jersey.
Anyone got any good ideas that might be interesting?
cheers!0 -
I flew to NY the day after London this year - be prepared to lose one day to feeling very stiff - I managed a bit of sightseeing but the subway stairs were torture
Enjoy the mara though - sooooo jealous! Say hi to Paula for me0 -

Yeah that's me! Flying on the 30th as well, who are you flying with? I'm staying at the Salisbury and can't bloody wait. Training was going well then I got a dreaded cold which I'm struggling to shift.
What are your plans for the night before, think we're going to find and Italian then watch the fireworks in Central Park, then an early night:o0 -
If you want a really good old style red sauce Italian, you CANNOT beat Bamonte's in Brooklyn.
Get the L Train to Lorimer St, Walk north 5 blocks, turn left at old gas station, and it is there... it's a great old style place..
