A bit to tidy this up, but in the nicest possible way. Helping, not criticizing. You haven't said what hotel you're staying in, as a little bit of Morning planning to get to the start location, no more than 20 mins really from anywhere in Manhattan with the subway, but you could do some things really early to get a great feel for it.
Day 1, looks ok, but think of the distance between TriBeCa, and the Comedy Club you're going to.. might be a bit of a trek, and bars really don't get busy til after midnight. Probably worth going to an early show at the Comedy Club, and then heading to some bars. Need recommendations? just ask
Day 2, Not enough in there really, and Little Italy isn't worth "visiting" it's basically just an extension of China Town now. So, maybe take this as a revised Day 2, which links in with a comment about the Day 3 below.Day 2
Rockerfeller Center - Go to the Top Of The Rock!
Times Square
Grand Central Station
Madison Square Garden Tour
Little Italy & Chinatown
Soho
Greenwich Village
I've added in Greenwich Village, as that's a really nice area to just walk around, If you're around 20th Street, maybe head down the Chelsea Market, as that's kinda cool too.
Day 3, Noticed that you repeated everything, and i'm assuming you don't want to visit everything twice, I've moved Times Square out, as it didn't fit in with the rest of the itin with location, and moved that to Day 2. Personally Brooklyn has a lot more than 2 hours worth to visit, and is much much bigger than Manhattan in itself, and depends what parts you want to go visit. Personally, on my next trip to NYC, I'm spending 3 days in Brooklyn to really explore it, and find out what is where etc. Personally, you can easily spend 3 - 4 hours in Brooklyn, and maybe incorporate a bit of a bar crawl, especially if you head into Williamsburg! Revise your public transport in the area too, as it is a huge expanse, and hopping on the subway will probably be a must. Broadway Junction is a good linking point getting from the south of brooklyn into williamsburg.
I've also rearranged Day 3 into a more logical order, and the order I would personally do things, to be able to get around them, and some timescales etc, so you know what you're getting intoDay 3
Ground Zero
Wall Street
Staten Island Ferry (1 hour to get there and back!)
Brooklyn Bridge (45 mins to walk over at a leisurely pace)
Brooklyn Heights Promenade
Brooklyn
Williamsburg & Bar Crawl.
Day 4 seems alright, My suggestion for an interesting bar crawl would be around Bleeker Street, and the surrounding areas. There are plenty of great cheap, and interesting bars, and if you get chatting to locals etc, you could be there hours. Start after 3pm, and you'll have great fun around that area.
Day 5.
Citifield... pfft.... GO YANKEES! nuffsaid
hope that helps.

OK I'm off to NYC in 10 days time (can't wait!!) and just been trying to work out a plan for us so we have a rough idea what areas to hit on each day we're there. With so much to do we're thinking that this might be the best idea so we have some sort of structure.
Here it is at the moment:
Day 1
Arrive NYC midday
Tour Bus
Out round Tribeca at night
Comedy Club
Day 2
Rockerfellar Center
Grand Centrale Station
Madison Square Garden Tour
Little Italy
Chinatown
Soho
Day 3
Staten Island Ferry
Wall Street
Brooklyn Bridge
Brooklyn Heights Promenade
Brooklyn (2 hours tops)
Ground Zero
Times Square
Staten Island Ferry
Wall Street
Brooklyn Bridge
Brooklyn Heights Promenada
Brooklyn
Ground Zero
Times Square
Day 4
Yankee Stadium Tour
Central Park
Bar Crawl Somewhere?!
Day 5
*free to go back somewhere / to an area we liked*
Baseball game at Citifield
What does everyone think? I think doing the tour bus on the day we get there will be good as it will give us chance to get our bearings and look for places to visit that we didn't anticipate seeing before we went.
Do you think we have a good balance there with visiting places in a smilar area? Basically all the places we've put down are the places we want to visit.
Any help, tweaking or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Day 3 will probably kill you off for the rest of the week...lol, if I was you I would do a day in a particular area, for example...if you want to do the Rockefeller (which of course is a must, the Top of the Rock has the best views ever) then you may as well do Times Square and Central Park that day too, as they're all close together.
Day 3 has too much going on, Ground Zero you could possibly do before Tribeca as it's close by. Maybe do Staten Island Ferry another morning as that will take up a fair bit of time.
I would recommend going onto Google maps, that'll help you out.
Someone asked about Comedy Clubs somewhere. We went to the Oliver Tree Cafe in Greenwich http://www.comedycellar.com/olive.shtml downstairs is the Comedy Cellar where all the greats still perform...Seinfeld and Louis CK my two faves still do, infact, two weeks ago on the night of our wedding, we went there for a drink and Louis CK happened to be there for a drink and impromptu performance.....very nice he was too, we got out pic taken with him and he chatted for ages which really topped off a great day in New York. I digress, the place is brilliant, and to top it off you can have food there before which is gorgeous and they make delicious margarita's too0 -
ps, be very careful which bus tour company you use, most reviews I read on bus tours are terrible, they're really not rated at all. You will see so much just walking around anyway, which you seem to be doing...perhaps do a boat cruise instead, we did the Circle Line tour and it really was good.
Also, make sure you walk back over Brooklyn bridge, the views are awesome, get the subway there...quick and easy!0 -
Markmoo, help get me back to New York...Do you have a magic wand?
It's taken me 2 weeks to get over my holiday blues.....I love New York, I love it nearly more then I love my children ;-)0 -

sell things you don't need.. I've just made £150 from 4 mobile phones lying around the house. Last trip, I sold old electronics stuff that made up some of my spending money.. oh, and a second job... that is more of my holiday money too....
it's not easy, but if you want to keep going back, you gotta do that extra bit to make sure you can

Thanks a lot for the brilliant (and quick!) responses everyone, been a great help!
I've combined the two suggestions from both of you and came up with the following (I missed off empire state at night and times square at night off the original list):

Comedy Club
Bars Round Tribeca (can anyone recommend good ones?)
Day 2
Rockerfeller Center
Times Square
Grand Centrale Station
Madison Square Garden Tour
Little Italy & China Town
Soho
Greenwich Village
Day 3
Ground Zero
Wall Street
Staten Island Ferry
Brooklyn Bridge
Brooklyn Promenade
Williamsburgh bar crawl
Empire State Building
Times Square
Day 4
Yankee Stadium
Central Park
Bleeker Street area
Day 5
Do our own thing
Citifield
Any better? We're staying in the cosmopolitan hotel.
Thanks again all.

That's how I funded our wedding trip...entirely on sales via ebay)
Time to get routing again!0 -

I don't think it's that bad.. Leave the hotel by 9am, 10am ferry 11am head towards the brooklyn bridge (hop on a subway from the ferry uptown!) , 12noon into brooklyn, wander around, hop on subway, 3pm into williamsburg, and a pub crawl begins.. if you time it right, it can be done, and when you're sitting in a pub boozing, you'll be fine!

Ah don't worry about us over doing it, we're young so we'll soldier on!0 -
You really don't need to do the Empire State building if you're doing T.O.T.R.....it could easily take up a lot of time, whereas the T.O.T.R, you get up quickly, the views are much better in my opinion and you have more time to do other good stuff.
Have you plans to eat at all?? ;-)
For me, it's a mega important thing that I eat well, you're in New York, it would be a sin not to! I would get on over to Trip Advisor and look at the restaurant recommendations there...There's a great big list for you:
