Right fordy - are you ready for this!

The Jane - never more than $99 a night! A little unconventional perhaps but may save you beer money. Never been there so not a recommendation, just searching for the single traveller. Last year I was more conventional and stayed at The Wellington, but this seems like, well, fun!

I was looking at the Jane for a while, its the shared bathroom that puts me off, but at that price its got to be a consideration if I want to go.

Does it really matter that much? I'd be glad of the huge double bed to myself! Failing that, grab a tent and pitch up in central park for the week!!! Lol. New York is fab, please dont consider not going just because of the room, you will have a brilliant time! Ive already booked to go back for xmas and New Year i cant wait! Just got to save the spends now!!

its the cost, i can afford it but £1000 for a short break for one person before spends is a lot. If I could get a single room, it would be vastly cheaper, i would however love the double bed.

and no matter how much i try, i really dont think i could live with a shared bathroom

Ahh i see (that will teach me not to read the whole thread) it does sound a bit steep, i went in march and paid £756 for 5 nights in west 57th street. How long are u planning on going for?

5 nights is probably the max i can afford, flying from manchester is pushing the price up a touch too. What kind of place did you get on w57th street for that money, shared bathroom surely??

    Hi Fordy,

Have you checked travelzoo.com or quikbook.com? There are lots of good hotel offers each week but you will need to wait until much nearer your travel dates.

We have flights (and 7 day cruise) booked with Virgin from Heathrow for £650 each and just need hotel in New York for 3 nights. I will hopefully be able to bag a good deal in July or August for September.

Oh Yes, and make sure you go on the US edition of Travelzoo as they have a lot more New York Hotels listed than the UK edition

i'm probably splitting my holiday up to 3 nights in Brooklyn, then 4 nights in Manhattan, but $119 a night is a nice rate!

Fordy- No, we stayed at the Holiday inn w57th street, had a very big room with 2 double beds, no shared bathroom, great location, 2 mins to T-Sq and 2 mins to central park, would def stay there again, we flew from London Heathrow.
