I went in March and took about £500 for myself, it really does depend on what you like doing.Looking at your list i really dont think you will be able to get all around that in a week, it really is full of everything over there! I loved it, i want to go back soon!!!

Hi guys, need a little help

I'd liek to go to New York this year, Sept/Oct/Nov for 5 nights, ive seen a website:

    http://www.benztravel.co.uk/citybreaks/newyork/

I've been in touch regarding flights and they came back with £350 a direct flight from Manchester with Continental.

To be honest, looking at their site, they seem quite reasonable price wise.

I do understand these prices will be from heathrow and based on 2 sharing but what ive seen looking round on the usual suspects they are cheap in comparison.

So anyone dealt with them, or got any better sources?

    thank you in advance

    Hey everyone,

    first post on here!

Myself and a family member are planning a trip to NY (august 26th - 1st september)

We have a budget of £550 each for our flight + hotel, or maybe a little more. So far i'm struggling to find a good deal for a room with TWO beds. Ideally we'd like a 3 star hotel, the Affinia Manhattan has good reviews but i can't find a decent price.

We'll fly from any London airport.

If anyone has any links etc, would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    yup.. that's what i do..

I've been to NYC many times, and don't need to do the tourist attractions as much now, as before.

So, i just pick an area of NYC, jump on the subway, and get to it, and then aimlessly walk around, enjoying the atmosphere, and taking photos...

it's the best way to experience new york, on the basis of that you can find amazing things, and just enjoy the city.. just don't get in the way of other new yorkers, as they might grumble if you walk a bit slowly.. ;)

I'm sure if you look on Continentals website, you'll get a flight for £340 from Manchester. Delta is around the same price as well....

personally I wouldn't book flights alone through another website other than the airline direct, as it really isn't cheaper.

nothing in NYC is based on 2 sharing, as when you book a hotel room (that price doesn't include a hotel!), you book a room. So there are no single person supplements, etc..

Gotta rush out to work, so can give you more info later today

ok, you have £1100 for 6 nights in Manhattan including flights. Deduct off about £300 per person for your flights, and you're left with £500 for a hotel.

Manhattan is expensive, and you're going to be very hard pushed to find a hotel for £100 a night, let alone less than that, and you're wanting 3 star!!

You're either going to have to reconsider the budget, or stay in town for a shorter stay.

Cosmopolitan Hotel has offers on during the time you're there, so a room with 2 double beds for the complete stay is $160 a night plus taxes, bringing you a grand total of $960, and add taxes, giving you $1139.44, which works out at about £735 for the stay.

So, you have £735, plus £600 = £1335 for your holiday in NYC, room only.

Now, i know you want to stay in midtown, but to get anything for that budget will be a little tight, but let me do some research and see what i can come up with

Right done a quick search on Expedia and for approx £590 you can get two doubles in the New Yorker flying from London with Continental. I stayed here in May and yes it was small - the rooms - but the location was great for getting around. You can also get quidco with expedia which would bring your price down (this is what we did when we booked.) Oh and it was for the dates you wanted. There were others for less but I dont know anything about the hotels so you would need to do look into this, but it's a start. Hope this helps
