Delat didnt have seat back on my flights in Jan and it was a bit of rough service in comparison with Virgin who I flew with this time and my Virgin flight was less :D

Wow went to 230 5th Avenue last night - a very cool rooftop bar recommended by a friend, since we were already in Jake's Saloon on 23rd - amazing views of Empire State and other places :D

however we were there in November and it was absolutely bl**dy freezing, by the time we were halfway round we were desperate to get off the boat we were so cold. Just worth thinking about as you're heading out there in November.

    Stew

Snap, but I did it on 18th December and thought I'd die of the cold.

First time in NYC I was the coldest I'd ever been and this last time [last week] was the hottest I'd ever been.

Well, delta from MAN fly 757's, which have been upgraded and have seat back entertainment, there were a couple of 767's that they flew from gatwick and then moved to heathrow, that didn't have them, but i'm sure they're in the process of being upgraded.

and what do you mean rough service?? apart from the fact that virgin offer slightly less legroom, it's a plane that takes you from a - b IMO... what they give me on the plane i really don't give a crap about!

Hayes and Jarvis currently have good deals to NYC, staying at the New Yorker Hotel. Stayed there in the past - it's decent and central and it also has rather good reviews on trip advisor.

ayamjay - if you read what is said about NYC in the NYC thread, you'll realise that the whole of manhattan is "central" thus negating the need to stay in the tourist trap of Times Square.

Mods, can we get a merge with the NYC thread please?

if they are both direct flights, they will both be Delta flights, It's only if you change at CDG that you'll be flying on AirFrance metal.

I've also noticed the 2nd bag charge on international flights, which i don't think anyone else is doing just yet.

I flew AF years ago, and hated it, as they really were unhelpful and also on night flights they turn the heat up, as, according to them, it's what people want, and we don't have control over it (coughs)

i personally won't fly AF, on any segment, so i'd look at different flights, because of personal preference.

Continental also fly MAN - EWR, but as of October, they are leaving skyteam and going into star alliance, so that has an effect if you're collecting delta/klm/air france points. (which i do)

also, i'm thinking that even if you're flying on delta metal, but with an air france ticket, you are probably still stuck with delta policies... i'm not sure on that, so it might be something to look into

    Thanks Markymoo for your help.
I had a look on Continental and would have concidered this flight instead of JFK however Inbound flight departs at 9am where as Deltas' is 10pm.

Yes I was thinking that myself- about being stuck with Deltas baggage allowance even if booking with AF. Maybe thats why it keeps comming up as ' Not reponding'.

I think I will still book with Delta however we'll take 1 bigger case each and just take 1 second bag to share. It was mostly souvienirs we bought last year so may not even need two each.

I prosume its $50 each way? and for your second bag the weight allowance is the same as your first checked in bag (22.5 kg or less)?

i know what you mean with the 2nd bag, i've, on occasions needed the 2nd one, back in March, i spend $12 on a bag, just to chuck dirty washing in that i wasn't too fussed about, it made it back, however the zip was broken, but nothing lost!!! however, when weighing both bags, in total it was actually under the 23kg limit.

in that case, i wonder if delta would have let me put the 2nd bag into the main suitcase.. haha!!

continental has 2 flights a day from MAN - EWR - MAN, outbound choices are 9am or 11.25am and inbound, are 7pm or 10.10pm

when you go onto their website, it displays the 2 outbound options, choose one of them, and then it'll display the inbound options... the 9am flight is definitely an outbound one.. choose that then you'll get the return segment, it isn't displaying both at the same time!
