  • Hi all, just a quick query.

What is the best/easiest way of darning in the ends of yarn on blanket squares? I've browsed throught the net and some say with a darning needle and others advise with a crochet hook. I'm just wondering if there's an easy way and I'm making things too complicated.

    Thanks.

I hold my ends along the edge of the squares I'm joining and crochet over them so they are sort of encased in the other stitches. I HATE sewing in ends!
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • Thanks for the tip Jennyjelly!

I've joined my first granny squares today. Yay! I think the blanket's going to be a bit wonky as I obviously haven't been using the same tension. As a first attempt though, it's not too bad.

I do it this way too, but if i do have some ends to do i use a darning needle go one way then the other.

    Hello all again ........ lol

No crochet tonight , i feel ive lost heart with the big ripple, gonna have to find a little project, maybe start on those pillowslips
  • Morning all (she says as tumbleweed blows through the crochet thread)

Well, I started joining granny squares and plain blanket squares yesterday and in future I think I'm going to join as I go as it is quite tedious. Or just do one massive granny square. :) It's a bit wonky but it's taking shape and will serve a purpose once it's done.

Owens - sometimes it's best just to leave a project if you're not 'feeling' it, isn't it. The pillowslips sound lovely, I can't wait to see them.

Work time now, hopefully there'll be crochet time tonight.

Have you got the pattern to share please? I've been getting into crochet after years of not doing any, I'm looking for patterns to crochet for Xmas pressies and baby shawls/blankets. I love this pattern for a blanket.:j I've been trawling the net for baby blankets/shawls but haven't had any luck so far.

I've got some nice patterns for mittens so far :)
