Good morning everyone, what a beautiful day!:T
It's lovely to see that so many people are taking up crochet. I was taught by my nan 40-something years ago  and have been crocheting on and off ever since. A couple of years ago it was seen as very old-fashioned and looked like a dying art, so I'm really please each time I read that someone has just started. The more new people take it up (especially you young'uns!) the more fashionable and popular it will be.
So good on ya, keep on hooking, it's a fab hobby and the fastest way in the world to de-stress!
I'm not the world's best but if there is any help I can offer to any new crocheters please post your questions and I'll do my best to answer.:)Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
I've just been to the yarn shop this morning to pick up some more acrylic for cushion covers. I love crocheting with 100% acrylic, because you can get the most gorgeous selection of colours, and it washes and dries brilliantly
(mind I do have an awful soft spot for Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino too.........)the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Hi all, I popped into town this morning and managed to get some dark green and rusty orange wool for the leaves.
Molly - good luck with your first project!
Jennyjelly - my mum (no longer with us) used to knit and crochet when I was small, she was really good. She tried to teach me and I showed absolutely no interest at all. She used to crochet Sindy clothes and sell them through the local wool shop. It's funny how things come around, isn't it? And you're right, it's a great de-stresser.
Glitterkitty - I've just been buying acrylic wool from the local pound shop and the selection of colours is amazing. Are you going to show us your cushion when you're finished?
Happy hooking.0 -
Hi there,
Not been on here for ages- my crochet not been going so well and back to knitting for a bit (getting started on winter gloves, hats etc- won't post pic of them as not crochet lol!).
Loving seeing all the designs, don't think I would have the patience to do one of those massive blankets but they are gorgeous indeed!

I have just borrowed from the library "First Crochet" by Lesley Stanfield, and may attempt my first, very simple project. Wish me luck!
Just wanted to say goodluck ! ........ on a diff subject how to you use multi quote ?0 -
Morning all,
Just thinking about my next project, i have got a large ripple on the go for my daughter but it seems to be taking me ages to get anywhere with it, so i like to have other little projects along the way !
Im really wanting to do some lace edging, think im gonna get some pillowcases then blanket stitch all the way around and then do some sort of easy shell edging for my first attempt !

Hi angie baby - I haven't had experience of edging a blanket yet, but Crochet Pattern Central has lots of edging options (new, so can't post links yet).
Hope that helps.
Owens - I like the idea of the lace-edged pillowcases.
Am having a day off today, so will be hooking all day.
Bye for now.0 -
angie_baby why not have a go at this edging, it's really straightforward and Lucy's tutorial is so easy to follow.Oh dear, here we go again.0
