Any hints and tips for getting started? what would I need? how do I learn?
Would like to have a go at doing some squares for a blanket or childs scarf..

Lots of us crochet :j I'm currently making a scarf, and crocheting lots of flowers
I learnt to crochet from the internet, using leftover wool, and hooks from Freecycle :T
I find Attic 24 very inspirational.
I'll add this to the current thread so that you can read what others are doing :T

With the dish scrubbie - did you use any sort of abrasive yarn?"Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

Hi karmacookie, that's a really pretty top.
I reckon you could knit this in DK cotton and it would be nice and cool for the summer. The pattern says worsted which is the US equivalent of DK so you could use any DK - something like Patons DK Smoothie is a really lovely smooth drapey yarn that would be nice for it, or if you wanted to use pure cotton the cheapest I've found is here
Hope this helps.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

Thanks so much for posting that SGN, I hasn't seen it before. There are some really nice patterns there, even one with arms like the JML fleeces but about 100 times better!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
Just looking on the Red Heart site and here is another e-book you may like.Oh dear, here we go again.0

Can anyone pls explain where I am going wrong?
I was making a VERY simple dishcloth from treble crochet stitches and every row I seemed to lose a stitch - so if I carried on I would get a triangle instead of a square.
I was doing tr in each stitch, turning chaining 2 and tr in each stitch again.
I felt I was growing in confidence with my crochet but the past 2 days I've just messed up everything I attempted!"Finish each day And be done with it.
