The instructions are telling you to decrease, or am I misunderstanding your question? Row 16 and 17 appear to be edging rows all the way round. I'm sure once you get those done it will look just like the pink one as it will sort of even up the whole outside if you see what I mean?
What is it supposed to be?0 -

what im making on the pic is the hair on an amigurumi elf
when I made the right hand side I think I have increased 8 rows so after doing the left hand side as well I got 10+8+18+8+10 not 10+18+10
The decrease I got to do (as I understand it is back and forth on the 8 rows but it doesn't look the same on the picture. I just cant figure out what I'm doing wrong on the side0 -

I've just tried comparing the number of rows you have, with the number of rows in the pink one, and from what I can see it does look like the same amount - and when you've got the edging bit done and it's curved round like the pink one I reckon it should be ok. Mind you, I've seen some of your amigurumis and you're far better at crochet than me!!! I'm sure one of the other more experienced ladies will be able to point you in the right direction.0 -

I'd also like to say a big thank you to Thriftlady for inspiring me to come up with this method and for the use of her photo in the tutorial.
