100% SECONDED!!!
I discovered it for the first time when it was mentioned 2 days ago and now I'm halfway through Lucy's crochet bag which is making a huge impression on my stash and is promising to look fab.
I just LOVE that blog. So much colour and such a happy feeling!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
I'm looking at the pic of that crochet gift bag and thinking it must be UK trebles, it looks too holey for doubles! I don't suppose it matters too much for this particular project, but I've got my eye on a couple of the hooded sweater patterns on there too, so I really need to suss it out.

P.S. I really ought to think before I post, which would save you all being bombarded by half a dozen posts in a row!!! Sorry!
It's definitely American terminology - I've just been looking at a bouquet of pansies (for some reason I quite fancy making some and I've been looking for a pattern for a while!) and it uses sc.0 -

I bought the 2nd issue at our local newsagent, yesterday. (1 ball of wool and a file with it.)0 -
Just in case anyone is interested - it's definitely moneysaving anyway! http://www.craftstylish.com/item/44816/how-to-make-a-reversible-swiffer-sock0

I've finished making grannies for my throw. I have made 40 in blues and greens and 40 in reds and purples. I'm going to join them alternately.
This morning I have been blocking them. That's where you pin them out stretching the corners and sides so they are straight and neat. You then spray them with water and leave to dry. It makes a huge difference to the finished look of your work.
I just use an old blanket folded to pin my squares on and a plant mister to spray. A firm cushion works too. It doesn't take long and is well worth the trouble.
I've posted a short tutorial thingy on flickr. You can see it better if you click on slideshow top right.
How to Block Crochet Squares0 -
Thank you for the flicker pics, thrift lady. Very helpful
Can I ask for a quick bit of help? How do I deal with the ends of the crochet? I have little tails hanging off of my square and I have tried to weave them in but I just end up with smaller tails further up the row!0 -

Can I ask for a quick bit of help? How do I deal with the ends of the crochet? I have little tails hanging off of my square and I have tried to weave them in but I just end up with smaller tails further up the row!Once I've finished a square I darn them all in on the back in a fairly haphazard way. Then I snip them off leaving about a cm on each tail. Not sure if this is the 'correct' way of dealing with them but it works for me.

I have now made a granny square in one colour and would like to try changing colours within the square to have a two - tone effect........ but how do you do it??????? I have tried 2 different ways from googling it, but it looked awful so I must have done something wrong........
Can anyone help please?
Also...... the pattern I have been using has two chains between each set of trebles at the sides and two between the corner sets. But I have seen others with one chain between the side trebles and two between the corners. Is there a right way? (Sorry for untechnical language!)0 -
Changing colour, I was shown to cut the first colour leaving an end long enough to knot, then join the last set of doubles into the ring with the next colour. If you hold both ends tight while doing the first few stiches, you can make it tight then tie off later and weave in the ends.
I crochet quite loose, and do my squares with sets of three doubles - no space between, and only one chain in the corners.
I think it is a matter of personal preference.
hope that helps

I wondered if anyone could help me... only recently started crochet,
I'm following a hobby craft pattern for some children's mittens;
http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/Pages/Id...a.aspx?id=1073
Ive done the first part for the cuff and got to number 4.'For the main part of the mitt, turn work to enable you to work along row ends of cuff:
1st row – 1ch, work 1dc into each row end, (27 sts) Turn.'
But I can't figure out where to put the stitchesThe pattern makes a ribbed effect for the cuff and so the row endings look differnet, and I just can't decide which part to work into!
Any ideas?
Your help would be much appreciated, LucyAddicted to MSE, I can't resist a bargain0
